Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/13/21
Welcome to new comic book reviews! It’s a nice Saturday, with temperatures finally starting to break. And…yeah. It’s March! New comics including Mighty Morphin, X-Factor, Wonder Woman and more!
To shake things up a bit, I’m going to award Comic Book of the Week to Children of the Atom #1! As much as I enjoyed the new issue of Mighty Morphin, it’s time to diversify my favorites. Children of the Atom brought us something new and interesting.
Meanwhile, I recently found out that the movie theater in the next town over has reopened! It sounds like a very dangerous adventure, but it’s something I might risk to see Godzilla vs. Kong on the big screen in a couple weeks. Also, I’ve started playing Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. It’s fine so far, but feels a lot rougher than previous games.
Comic Reviews: Children of the Atom #1, The Green Lantern: Season Two #12, Mighty Morphin #5, Strange Academy #9, Wonder Woman #770 and X-Factor #8.

Your favorite internet animator and mine — Tell It Animated — is back with Wonder Woman! I love this dude’s videos and I love sharing them on my blog, to spread the word as far and wide as I can. This one is another corker.
Another great job! This guy has really found a nifty niche, and I hope he’s having fun and finding success!
As for what he should do next, a lot of people are requesting a King Kong video, but surely that’s not going to be very fun, right? Just a bunch of drawings of the same gorilla?
I suggest he do Robin! He’s already got a Batman video, so why not complete the Dynamic Duo? Robin was in just as many black and white serials as Batman back in the day, then you’ve got the 1960s TV show, the Chris O’Donnell Robin from the movies, the Robin costume from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and now the various Robin/Nightwing costumes on the live action Titans. Sounds like a good video to me!

I Stand By Power Rangers Being a Good Movie
The Power Rangers reboot movie from 2017 was good! I really liked it! I loved the character development and exploration, and…the movie in general. I suppose the suits weren’t very toy-etic. But I still enjoyed the movie.
Doesn’t meant I won’t share fun mocking videos, like the Pitch Meeting guy!
This dude makes consistently fun videos for Screen Rant. I definitely recommend adding him to your YouTube rotation.
His Pitch Meeting for Wonder Woman 1984 hits all the nails on all the heads.
And that’s a good way to spend a Tuesday!

6 Thoughts on Wonder Woman 1984
Welp, Wonder Woman 1984 has arrived and it has landed with a big, dull thud. Reviewers and superhero movie fans across this great internet are ripping the sequel to shreds, and I don’t necessarily think they’re wrong. I watched Wonder Woman 1984 on HBO Max and…it was fine. I didn’t hate it, I didn’t think it was terrible, but I can’t say I particularly cared much for it.
Movie Rating: 5/10 – Alright
I enjoyed the first Wonder Woman movie well enough. And I’ve liked most of DC’s movie output since then, especially Aquaman and Shazam. But Wonder Woman 1984 is a real callback to the age of cheesy or bad superhero movies. I’ve seen a lot of people compare it to the Christopher Reeves Superman movies, or the original Wonder Woman TV show, but I don’t know enough about either to make that comparison. For me, this is more along the lines of Spider-Man 3, too full of stuff that just comes along and doesn’t work well together.

So Warner Bros. recently made the very bold decision that all of their major 2021 movies are going to release simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. The first up is Wonder Woman 1984, which is coming out on Christmas Day. I can’t wait!
Personally, I’m kind of excited about this HBO Max thing. For one, it means I’ll get to see movies again, because I doubt theaters in my area will get to open anytime soon. For another…I dunno! I’m excited to see how it changes the upcoming movie landscape? I’m excited to see how it changes the world? I guess we’ll find out!
Meanwhile, early social media reactions to Wonder Woman 1984 have been very positive…but then those are usually overwhelmingly positive. But we have no reason to doubt them. The first Wonder Woman movie was good, and surely the filmmakers have grown and learned since then.
