More Batman: Caped Crusader! More President! More King of the Hill!
A couple new cartoon trailers arrived yesterday, and I’m gonna share them, because it’s one of those kinds of Thursdays.
First up is a trailer for the second season of Batman: Caped Crusader, which should be glad it’s getting a second season at all. I liked the first season just fine, but it feels like such a niche show that nobody is talking about. It’s Batman in a noir setting, and it’s a good adaptation.
Show looks good to me! No sign of Robin, so that’s disappointing. But that Joker looks like fun. And the whole show looks fun. And that’s what trailers need to accomplish: make their show worth watching.
Batman: Caped Crusader returns to Amazon on July 31.
Next up is the trailer for the second season of the King of the Hill revival. I also enjoyed the first season of the revival and I welcome more episodes!
I was a fan of King of the Hill back at the beginning, then fell off halfway through. But it’s a good show, and the revival is a strong one. That first revival season was fun. I like the characters. I like the directions they’re going in. Should be a fine continuation.
King of the Hill returns to Hulu on July 20.
Lastly, we got a full trailer for the Rick and Morty spin-off President Curtis. Looks like more Rick and Morty madness.
I still like Rick and Morty. I’m waiting for the current season to wrap up before I binge it. Obviously the show has fallen from its highest heights. But it’s usually still fun. And this President Curtis trailer looks fun. Honestly, it looks like they just set Keith David up in a room by himself with a microphone and let him just shout random and funny things, then they built the show around that — which could still be fun!
President Curtis is coming to Adult Swim and HBO Max on July 26.

They Are Definitely Making a Harry Potter TV Show
We knew it was coming. There was no stopping it. There’s money to be made! Just not by me. That new Harry Potter TV show on HBO has a trailer.
I think they could have made a better trailer. Like…we all know Harry Potter. We all know the big scenes and the movies and the characters and stuff. Would it have been weird to make a trailer that just sort of…recreates those famous scenes, but with the new actors? This trailer seems like a real trailer, as if teasing a brand new project…but then also not…it’s weird. Or maybe my cold is just fogging my brain just enough that I’m not getting it.
It all looks fine to me. I’ll probably watch. I like Nick Frost. I hope the kids involved are OK. J.K. Rowling sucks.
The Harry Potter TV show — full title being Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, because of course — will arrive around Christmas.

I Like the New Lanterns Trailer
Yesterday, we got our first trailer for the new Lanterns TV show, about Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart. I’m very excited for this show, because I’m a big fan of everything James Gunn is producing for the DCU. But the trailer looks very odd for a Green Lantern TV show, see if you can spot why.
So yeah, not much Green Lanterning in this supposed Green Lantern TV show. And you know what? I’m fine with that. Doesn’t bother me at all. As much as I enjoy the space cops and the rainbow Lantern corps, I don’t need that in every adaptation. We had that with the Green Lantern movie and it was weird. So if the showrunners and producers want to go in a different direction with this TV show, I’m perfectly fine with that. I am more than willing to let them cook.
The actors come off very well, I really like that snippet of Hal Jordan flying, and I’m confident this will be a good show.
Lanterns is coming to…whatever remains of HBO in August.

Various Trailer Friday!
Due to sheer laziness, I haven’t been posting as much as I probably should be these past few weeks. Just how I’m rolling these days, I guess. But I have been holding onto movie and TV trailers in case I ever do post more. And now I’m just gonna share a bunch, in case you haven’t seen them yet.
First up, this just came out yesterday, is a final trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the next Game of Thrones spin-off. This one looks good, I think.
I haven’t watched any of House of the Dragon. I’m not sure why. It’s supposed to be good. I just don’t have any interest in that corner of Westeros. But this one looks fun, following hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall as he fumbles his way through being a knight, alongside his street urchin squire, Egg. Looks like a fun blend of comedy and heroic action.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms comes to HBO Max on Jan. 18.
Next up is a movie trailer for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. The first film was a great horror comedy, and I can only hope the sequel is just as much fun.
Looks fun already! Kinda crappy that the main character gets immediately thrown into another death game. And I don’t quite think the escalation works as well as it could, given the story of the original, but I guess we’ll see. Let us hope for the best!
Ready or Not: Here I Come comes to theaters on April 10.
Another movie coming out next year is Project Hail Mary, from the same author who wrote The Martian. That’s a good sign. Be careful, there’s apparently a very big spoiler in the trailer that the studio has decided to just give away because it’s a major part of the movie anyway. I don’t mind being spoiled about this.
Yeah, this looks fun. It’s got the same love for science as The Martian, and seemingly the same sense of humor. Ryan Gosling is always fun. And it’s directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who have made some incredible films and probably can do no wrong.
Project: Hail Mary comes to theaters on March 20.
Lastly, it’s the next Pixar film, Hoppers, which looks about the same as any other recent Pixar film. They have really fallen from grace.
I haven’t even seen Elio, and I’m pretty sure it’s free for me to watch on Disney+. I just can’t be bothered. And I probably won’t be bothered with Hoppers. It’s no Mitchells vs the Machines! But it is coming out, and maybe some of you are into that sort of thing.
Hoppers comes to theaters on March 6.

Let Them Have More Fionna & Cake
I’m still alive! It’s been a week and a half since I last posted, which might be the longest I’ve ever gone without a post. Wild. But I had a really busy week last week at work, and then the comics I read weren’t really worth talking about for a review column, and then there simply haven’t been any trailers or videos or news worth sharing — or, at least, going out of my way to make a post to share.
But I needed to write something and I’ve settled on the Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake season 2 trailer from Comic-Con a week or two ago.
HBO Max has also just released the opening title sequence! Neat!
I love Adventure Time and I loved the first season of the Fionna & Cake spin-off. So I’m very excited for a second season. As with this franchise, the possibilities are limitless for where they can go and what they can do. Can’t wait!
The new season kicks off on Oct. 23…which is tomorrow! Whew, good thing I’m alerting you people to this gem right now.
