Honestly, I Loved the Amazing Spider-Man Movies

I know everybody hates them quite a bit, but I loved both Amazing Spider-Man movies. I loved the energy, I loved Andrew Garfield, I liked the villains, I loved Gwen Stacy, and I never liked Tobey Maguire as either Spider-Man or Peter Parker.

Fortunately, we all get to go see Spider-Man: Homecoming this weekend! I’m very excited. But hey, Honest Trailers is always reliable for comedy.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/1/17

Happy Fourth of July weekend, everybody! We’ve got a bunch of good comics this week, and I’ve got a day off from work on Tuesday, so I’m in all manner of good spirits. We’ve got some quality Spider-Man and Batman comics this week, which is always a hoot. And Comic Book of the Week goes to another stellar Infamous Iron Man. I’m just loving that comic!

Ben Sarcasm 01

Most I’ve liked Ben Grimm in years!

I skipped a double dose of Young Jean Grey this week. Her solo series was just a team-up with Prince Namor, who I don’t care for. And X-Men Blue was pretty interesting, but I swear to God, if Cullen Bunn brought Jimmy Hudson into that book just to revive the Cyclops/Jean Grey/Wolverine love triangle then I am done with that comic. Full stop.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #29, Batgirl #12, Defenders #2, Detective Comics #959, and Infamous Iron Man #9.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/10/17

Good news, everybody! My time is my own again and the bonus Wednesday is out of the way, so I’m back to buying and reading an entire pile of comics! But bad news, too! Because as has been the case with me and comics, all of my favorite comics come out in one week, and there’s no way I can get to them all.

So this week sees new issues of Amazing Spider-Man, Batman, Hawkeye and Nova! But I had to pass on new issues of Harley Quinn and Unstoppable Wasp, just for time! Fortunately, I made room for the Comic Book of the Week: Iceman #1! He’s my favorite
X-Man and he’s finally got a solid solo comic!

Iceman Wall 01

Don’t ask me!

Speaking of comics I read but didn’t review, the new issue of Harley Quinn is pretty nifty! We learn the secret origin of Red Tool, even though I didn’t know he had a secret origin! I’m gonna do a write up on it next week in case you want the fully skinny.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #28, Batman #24, Hawkeye #7, Iceman #1 and Nova #7.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/13/17

Greetings everyone! Last week I missed out comic book reviews because I was in the hospital. And this week, I’ve not only been busy at work, but I’m also busy today putting together shipments and packages for everybody who ordered the Gamer Girl & Vixen graphic novel! It’s been a busy month, let me tell you.

So there won’t be too many reviews this week, unfortunately, but we still had some solidly entertaining comics. All-New Wolverine, Detective Comics and Amazing Spider-Man were all good, and the third issue of X-Men Blue takes home Comic Book of the Week for another nice issue, solidifying it as my favorite (so far) of ResurrXion.

X Blue Sentinels 01

Sentinels be cray cray

Meanwhile, last week I missed the first proper issue of Secret Empire, and I enjoyed it. People are welcome to hate this Captain America as a fascist storyline all they want, but I’m digging the heck out of it. I think it’s a pretty great premise for a big, company-wide crossover. I really hope they can pull this one off.

Also, I skipped the new issue of Silver Surfer this week for a couple reasons, but the end of the issue was as big a gut punch as some of the best issues of Saga. Masterful work, Mr. Dan Slott.

Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #20, Amazing Spider-Man #27, Detective Comics #956 and X-Men Blue #3.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/15/17

So, uh, I kind of went a little overboard with the reviews this week, everybody. Sorry about that. It just so happens that a metric ton of my favorite Marvel comics all come out on the same day, and I didn’t want to skip over any of them! So be prepared for everything from Amazing Spider-Man to Unstoppable Wasp to Mosaic to the final issue of Power Man and Iron Fist! Plus I wanted to try out a couple more ResurrXion comics.

Fortunately, this week also delivered one of the best issues of Silver Surfer yet, an easy Comic Book of the Week! That comic is magical! Silver Surfer #10 combines tragic romance with all my favorite bits of Silver Surfer mythology, making for a wonderful issue.

Meanwhile, I really, really, really want to get back into reading more DC Comics. Now that Gotham Academy is coming to an end and Greg Rucka is leaving Wonder Woman, I’m going to try to get caught up on those two series so I can review them through the end.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #26, Detective Comics #954, Mosaic #7, Power Man and Iron Fist #15, Silver Surfer #10, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #19, Unstoppable Wasp #4, Weapon X #1 and X-Men Blue #1.
