The Nevers Looks to be a Pretty Cool Joss Whedon Show!
Joss Whedon is a controversial character these days for reasons I’m not going to go into. This isn’t the sort of blog that does that. But say what you will, the man made some pretty awesome television back in the day! And he’s got a new show coming out on HBO Max: The Nevers. I believe it’s about people with super-powers in Victorian-era England?
I think it looks pretty cool. Some of my favorite TV, movie and comic book writing comes from Whedon, so I’m a fan, in spite of the controversy. It’s a shame he’s already left The Nevers.
Also, this sounds an awful lot like the plot of Whedon’s stint on the Runaways comic. Remember that? He sent the team back in time to early 20th century America, where they met a whole bunch of people with super-powers. I didn’t particularly like that story at the time…but perhaps Whedon has decided to give the idea its own proper home? We’ll see!
The Nevers comes out in April.

6 Mandalorian LEGO Sets I Need Right Now
I am a longtime LEGO fan, and this pandemic has only helped to really push my need for something to do in quarantine. I’ve bought and built a couple different LEGO sets in lockdown so far, with a few more boxes to go whenever I’m in the mood. I even built a custom Wraith Squadron character!
But more than anything else in LEGO, I need some awesome Mandalorian sets! Like this Trouble on Tatooine set!
So here’s my thinking: that Trouble on Tatooine set is clearly modeled after the first episode of season 2. There’s also the set based on episode 4 of season 1. And then there’s the general Razor Crest set, which I built earlier this winter. This all means that LEGO is making Mandalorian sets based off individual episodes…but not yet the episodes I want. I really want that highly detailed, silver-armored Mando mini-figure, but I don’t want all of that Tusken Raider accoutrement. I’m a finicky fella.
Join me after the jump for six LEGO set suggestions based off episodes of The Mandalorian!
Read the rest of this entryHonestly, I Think I Liked the Street Fighter Movie
It’s been a couple years since I last rewatched the live action Street Fighter movie, but I’m pretty sure I liked it. I guess it’s not a masterpiece or anything, perhaps not even a good movie. But hey, it exists!
Honest Trailers continues to not have any new movies to make videos about, so we’re doing classics. More power to them, I say! We all need something with our lives these days.
Also, did you know Ming-Na Wen played Chun-Li in this movie? Neat!

WandaVision Looks to Only Get Better!
Because WandaVision is a certified hit, the fine folks at Marvel have come out with a new mid-season trailer! That’s a thing now! Since Disney+ has reintroduced the world to watching television at one episode per week, something has to keep our attention spans from crashing.
So check out this nifty new trailer! It’s full of spoilers for the show so far, so don’t watch the trailer if you haven’t been watching WandaVision.
I have been watching WandaVision, so the trailer was safe for me to view!
I’m loving the show so far! I’m old enough to have grown up watching TV at only one episode per week, so that isn’t bothering me at all. And I’m loving the slow burn! For some reason, people out there on the internet are complaining about the pacing of the show? Are you crazy?! The sitcom stuff was funny and clever, and it served as the perfect set-up for the even bigger stuff we’re going to see now.
Stories need set-up. That’s just basic stuff.
New episodes of WandaVision on Fridays!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/30/21
New week, new comics, the same slowly churning stillness of our reality! But don’t let quarantine or coronavirus get you down too much, there’s still…good comics to read! Like more Future State! And a new issue of X-Men! Have you voted for the new team member yet?
Comic Book of the Week goes to Strange Academy #7! I dropped this series for a couple of issues, but the lack of titles this week led me to get caught up, and I’m so glad I did! This issue had a lot of great moments.
Meanwhile, I finished the first season of Ted Lasso and I am in love! That is a great show! Worth blowing your Apple TV free sample — though more seasons are expected. WandaVision remains great. And I’m currently playing Watch Dogs Legion. So life is pretty good for me!
Also, in case you miss it, I’ve decided to take an issue off of reviewing Strange Adventures. The issue is fine, but I don’t know what we’re going to really get until the big finale. Perhaps I’ll pick it back up there.
Comic Reviews: Future State: Dark Detective #2, Future State: Legion of Super-Heroes #1, Strange Academy #7 and X-Men #17.
