6 Thoughts on Zack Snyder’s Justice League

We are finally living in a post-Snyder Cut world. Zack Snyder’s Justice League has arrived on HBO and we have all experienced it. I sat down with a buddy of mine and marathoned all four hours in one sitting, because that’s how I roll. I saw it just because it’s a thing to see. I am no #releasetheSnyderCut guy. I think Man of Steel is terrible, and I have grown to dislike Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice more and more. So don’t read this expecting some fawning praise for Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Movie Rating: 7/10 – Good.

I enjoyed the theatrical cut of Justice League well enough, at least upon seeing it in theaters. I haven’t had any interest in that film since. And I have had no desire to see Zack Snyder get another crack at it. I don’t think he’s a good fit for DC superhero movies. I’m not a hater. I very much adore 300 and Watchmen. I just haven’t enjoyed his take on Superman and the gang. And I never cared for the bullies that kicked off the #releasetheSnyderCut movement. I view this actual Snyder Cut as Warner Bros. grasping at straws to have some kind of draw to HBO Max.

But I watched Zack Snyder’s Justice League. I enjoyed it. It’s fine. And now I’m glad it’s behind me. Join me after the jump for my thoughts on the beast of a film. Expect FULL SPOILERS for the movie.

Did You Know They’re Making a Birdgirl Cartoon?

I’ll admit, I haven’t watched Adult Swim in a dog’s age. I was all about that stuff at the very beginning, but who knows where they’ve gone since. But a random trailer caught my eye the other day: Birdgirl! It’s a sequel to Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law.

Looks neat!

We can only hope it lives up to the excellence that was Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law.

And here’s a clip.

I’m going to hope for the best and try to check out some episodes when I can fit them into my busy, busy, busy schedule. Probably.

Recapture Our Ninja Turtles Arcade Childhood

There’s a new Ninja Turtles game coming out that appears to be a love letter to that classic TMNT arcade game from our glorious youth! Shredder’s Revenge comes out…this year, maybe? Will hopefully be 4-player co-op, and basically is just a recreation of all of our childhoods!

Looks amazing. That original TMNT arcade cabinet was the highlight of my youth, and, I assume, all of yours. It was the perfect arcade game. Four players, each turtle just a little bit different, a lot of chances to pour quarters away; it was perfection. So heck yeah, let’s get a recreation on modern consoles! Let us bask in that fleeting nostalgia, transporting us back to a time when all that mattered was getting past Rocksteady.

Hook it to my freakin’ veins!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/20/21

Good news, everybody! I have been vaccinated! Or at least I got my first shot! Movie theaters are reopening and I want to be as safe as possible when I go to see Godzilla vs. Kong on the big screen! That sounds incredibly selfish of me. Anyway, somebody said something about comic books?

Comic Book of the Week goes to Nightwing #78! I’ve decided to give it a try and it was nice. Nothing spectacular, but such was this week in comics in general.

Nightwing is back! With a dog now!

Meanwhile, I very much enjoyed the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier! Great starting point, great introduction to the characters and hopefully the launch of another fun show! The next bunch of weeks should be a hoot!

Comic Reviews: Iron Man #7, Justice League #59, Nightwing #78, S.W.O.R.D. #4 and Thor #13.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Tonight! WandaVision Now!

The first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now available on Disney+! I’ve heard good things. The critic reviews are very positive. I can’t wait to watch later tonight after work! Until then, how about the Honest Trailer for WandaVision? I told you these nifty online parodies were coming!

Good stuff! I also plan to watch Zack Snyder’s Justice League this weekend! I may or may not do a List of Six on my thoughts on the movie. As I recall, I enjoyed the Joss Whedon Justice League when I saw it in theaters…though I have no interest in it now.
