Black Adam Has a Release Date (Maybe)
On Sunday, the tentative release date for the Black Adam movie was announced for July 29, 2022. I say “tentative” because movies get delayed all the time. So who knows? But The Rock and all the other cast members have at least started filming. Or they will any day now.
It’s a pretty slow news day today, which is why all I’m posting is a release date announcement. I’m a little surprised that the Black Adam movie is finally getting made. And then I was reminded that The Rock was cast as Black Adam all the way back in 2007!
Come on! That was nearly 14 years ago! That’s insane! What the hell was life even like 14 years ago? I was still a young man! And where have those 14 years gone?! What have I done with my life?
Oh…oh god…

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/27/20
Good news, everybody! My local movie theater is open again and I just saw Nobody! The first movie in theaters in a year — if we don’t count that fun story I have about finally seeing Tenet. Nobody was fine. I’m still surprised it was not a parody. But enough about movies, what about comics? Like Detective Comics and Harley Quinn! Though this is one of those rare weeks where I didn’t read any Marvel comics…
Comic Book of the Week goes to Power Rangers #5 with a lot of fun new character arrivals and exposition dumps!
Meanwhile, another banger episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier! Loving this show! And on the side, I’ve started watching Snowpiercer. It’s pretty good so far. Enjoyable. Nothing amazing, but it gets the job done. I’m also going to try to finish off the new DuckTales cartoon. I’ve very much enjoyed that show.
Comic Reviews: Detective Comics #1034, Harley Quinn #1 and Power Rangers #5.

DC and Warner Bros. took two tries to make a Justice League movie that people liked, so it appears they’re going to try a second time for a Suicide Squad movie! Huzzah! At least this time we know for sure it’s going to be good, because it’s written and directed by James Gunn! The man who made the Guardians of the Galaxy into a household name of comedy is making The Suicide Squad!
Since it’s a Red Band trailer, you’re just gonna have to click over to watch it on YouTube. That’s not my rule.
Trailer looks really good to me! The dialogue is funny, the characters seem pretty great, and Margot Robbie is still killing it as Harley Quinn. I trust James Gunn completely and I am on board for The Suicide Squad! Not to be confused with Suicide Squad.
The movie comes to theaters on Aug. 6, and then to HBO Max about a month later, it seems.

Here’s Another Look at The Nevers
We’re supposed to get the first trailer for The Suicide Squad later today, and I’m definitely sharing that trailer the moment I see it! But until then, the new Joss Whedon HBO show The Nevers also dropped a new trailer this week. Good luck makes heads or tails of what this show is going to be about.
As I understand it, The Nevers is about a bunch of people in Victorian England who develop super-powers and then face the usual backlash from the normies. For all the badness we’re now learning about Joss Whedon these days, we can hopefully at least trust that his work is still enjoyable. I will definitely be checking out a couple episodes.
The Nevers arrives on HBO on April 11.

6 Thoughts on Zack Snyder’s Justice League
We are finally living in a post-Snyder Cut world. Zack Snyder’s Justice League has arrived on HBO and we have all experienced it. I sat down with a buddy of mine and marathoned all four hours in one sitting, because that’s how I roll. I saw it just because it’s a thing to see. I am no #releasetheSnyderCut guy. I think Man of Steel is terrible, and I have grown to dislike Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice more and more. So don’t read this expecting some fawning praise for Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Movie Rating: 7/10 – Good.
I enjoyed the theatrical cut of Justice League well enough, at least upon seeing it in theaters. I haven’t had any interest in that film since. And I have had no desire to see Zack Snyder get another crack at it. I don’t think he’s a good fit for DC superhero movies. I’m not a hater. I very much adore 300 and Watchmen. I just haven’t enjoyed his take on Superman and the gang. And I never cared for the bullies that kicked off the #releasetheSnyderCut movement. I view this actual Snyder Cut as Warner Bros. grasping at straws to have some kind of draw to HBO Max.
But I watched Zack Snyder’s Justice League. I enjoyed it. It’s fine. And now I’m glad it’s behind me. Join me after the jump for my thoughts on the beast of a film. Expect FULL SPOILERS for the movie.
