Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/13/22

Woof. What a lazy week. Normally I like to share funny videos or movie trailers, but I couldn’t find much of anything this week. Oh well, at least we had some nice comics, like Amazing Spider-Man and Power Rangers.

Comic Book of the Week goes to the latest issue of Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty for continuing this strong series — even if it’s all built on one of those retcons where some secret society is behind everything.

Captain America and his mighty shield

Meanwhile, I recently read through all the tpbs of Batman meets the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and they were a lot of fun! That was a quality series, and I’m sorry I missed it when it first came out. Perhaps now I’ll check out the animated version. I also think I’m finally going to play the video game Stray this weekend. The time has come.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #7, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #3, Jurassic League #4 and Power Rangers #22.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/16/22

After last week’s massive pile of comics, I felt pretty lazy this week. We’ve only got a couple, like Immortal X-Men and Power Rangers. But that’s good enough, right?

Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1 for another excellent Hellfire Gala. I really love this as an annual event, even if it throws the normal comic book passage of time right out the window.

Brian Posehn: Human luminary

Meanwhile, I loved the finale to Ms. Marvel! That show lived up to all my hopes, hypes and expectations. Truly wonderful! Beyond that, I’ve moved onto For All Mankind on AppleTV+ and am hoping for the best. And my trip through Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has reached Mass Effect 2 — which is a huge improvement over the first game! Loving this adventure.

Comic Reviews: Immortal X-Men #4, Power Rangers #21 and X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1.

I don’t know what came over me this week, but I wasn’t in a comic-reading mood. Fortunately, not too many titles came out this week, but I did skip a couple I wasn’t too jazzed about. Still, we’ve got new issues of Jurassic League and Power Rangers to enjoy!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #1 for a really great, character-focused debut issue.

Just a day in the life

Meanwhile, I’ve been exploring AppleTV+ this past week and I really loved The Afterparty. That show was great! Now I’m diving into Dickinson, and it’s been really fun, too. I also read through the first year or so of the comic Giant Days and that was also really good! I am surrounding myself with goodness these days.

Comic Reviews: Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #1, The Jurassic League #2, Power Rangers #20 and X-Men Red #3.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/21/22

Another week, another sizeable pile of comics. This one had a bunch of X-Men comics, which is always fun. And even a surprise review, like Savage Avengers for some reason. You just never know what sort of mischief I’ll get up to.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Nightwing #92 for some wonderful character moments and some really clever writing. This book definitely deserves all the awards nominations it just earned!

This is missed

Meanwhile, I watched the second season of Russian Doll and was mostly lost and confused. Perhaps it’s not such a bad thing that show has been forgotten. I also started the Lincoln Lawyer for some reason…don’t ask.

Comic Reviews: Immortal X-Men #2, Nightwing #92, Power Rangers #19, Savage Avengers #1, The X-Cellent #3 and X-Men Red #2.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/23/22

I think I’m running out of comics. I’m dropping more titles than I’m picking up, resulting in some pretty sparse review columns each week! I should read more…but man, some of the major comics coming out just aren’t my cup of tea. I’m stuck enjoying some truly stupendous comics like Nightwing and Power Rangers.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Nightwing #91 for another delightful team up between Nightwing and the Flash. I’m glad to see that all that Wally West madness has been straightened out and he can just be the Flash without any baggage.

That’s not how time travel works

Meanwhile, I beat Horizon Forbidden West and had a blast! That game was everything I wanted it to be, so I’m very pleased. Now I just need to wait a week to get that Horizon LEGO set. I also saw Everything Everywhere All At Once and that movie was absolutely phenomenal! Early contender for movie of the year! Do yourself a favor and go find and watch that movie!

Comic Reviews: Nightwing #91 and Power Rangers #18.
