Leah Williams is Getting a Fun New Comic: X-Terminators

I am a big fan of Leah Williams and am excited to pass along the news that she’s getting a new X-Men-esque mini-series this summer. She killed it on X-Factor before Marvel shuffled her and the series off to cancellation land. So hopefully this new series, X-Terminators, will provide some quality time for her writing.

I absolutely want to see more comics like X-Terminators in the Krakoa Era. Every single mutant character who has ever lived is available to use, both heroes and villains. And in this day and age, when Marvel is all about the 5-issue mini-series, just let some writers go nuts and have some wild fun with them.

In typical X-Men fashion, what starts as a wild night out gets even crazier when Jubilee, Boom-Boom, and Dazzler are kidnapped and put into elaborate death traps by a mysterious new army of enemies. What are three fierce mutants with the power to blow things up to do? Expect a hardcore, neon-fueled, down and dirty type of adventure unlike any seen before in X-Men history with all the light blasts, fireworks, time bombs, and brawling you can possibly hope for!

The art will be by Carlos Gomez, and the pair of them promise a really fun romp of adventure and chaos. That sounds good to me!

X-Terminators arrives in July!

Stranger Things is Finally Coming Back!

I’m a fan of Stranger Things. The first and second seasons still hold up, even if I wasn’t too enamored with the third season. But I am totally down for the upcoming fourth season, especially after this sweet new full trailer!

Looks like we’re getting a singular, Upside Down bad guy! And puberty! And other general quality horror action. So bring on Strange Things season 4 on May 27!

6 Dumb Sonic the Hedgehog Characters That I Want to See in the Threequel

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 arrived in theaters this past week and I enjoyed the flick, at least to the extent that I allowed myself to have an open mind and enjoy it. I didn’t care for the first one because it learned way too heavily into weird live action movie tropes instead of just being a Sonic movie. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 still suffers from some of those tropes, but the sequel also allowed itself to charge ahead into actual Sonic lore and characters.

So when do we get the Tom Wachowski spin-off game?

In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, we really had Sonic, Tails and Knuckles working together to save the Chaos Emeralds from Doctor Robotnik. Yes, we also had some weird tangents about a wedding in Hawaii and Sonic having adopted human parents, but the video game stuff was neat and treated well. Then we had that new character tease in the post-credits scene! So methinks that the threequel is going to lean even more into the actual video game storytelling…though, honestly, we’re probably gonna get a bunch more human subplot nonsense.

Still, I have high hopes, and a Google list of the dumbest and strangest Sonic the Hedgehog characters! So in my geeky fandom, what rando Sonic characters would I like to see show up in the threequel?

More Pacific Rim: Black, If That’s Your Thing

Did you know that Netflix has a cartoon set in the Pacific Rim universe? They do! And the first season was pretty good, if I remember correctly. Definitely worth a watch. Especially since a second season is coming.

I definitely remember enjoying the first season. The animation on the Jaegers is definitely cool. Though there’s zero connection to the movies. This might even take place years after the movies? I don’t quite remember. But a trailer is a trailer, especially on a Monday like this one.

Pacific Rim: Black returns for season 2 on April 19.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/9/22

This week, I face some hard truths about me and the Krakoa Era of X-Men comics. As much as I love the whole premise, I have yet to really find an individual series that really speaks to me — at least not one that lasts more than 5 issues. X-Men Red and Marauders go under the microscope today.

Comic Book of the Week goes to One-Star Squadron #5 for the toughest hit in comics this week.

It’s true, you won

Meanwhile, I really enjoyed Outlaws on Amazon Prime. Check out that show if you get the chance. Now I’m finally getting around to watching Sweet Tooth on Netflix and hoping for the best. And this weekend I’ll be checking out Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and hoping for the best for my boy Knuckles the Echidna!

Comic Reviews: X-Men Red #1, Marauders #1, One-Star Squadron #5 and She-Hulk #3.
