6 Reasons Why I Love Robin
I love Robin the Boy Wonder. He/She is one of my all-time favorite comic book characters, and a character I will defend to the death if need be. My personal favorite Robin is Tim Drake, but I like the mantle of Robin more than I like any specific individual who has worn the mask. Robin is simply an awesome comic book character. And because there has been a whole heck of a lot of Robin news lately, I wanted to celebrate with this week’s List of Six.
Robin is getting a couple new comics in November. Tim Drake just came out as likely bisexual, and that made national news. Robin is going to appear in the Batman ’89 comic, finally giving those Tim Burton movies a Robin. Various Robins are the stars of the Titans TV show, which just started its third season. There’s currently a “Robin” comic starring Damian Wayne, who is maybe transitioning away from the role? Suffice to say, there is a lot of Robin stuff happening these days and it feels good to be a Robin fan. But why am I such a devoted Robin fan?

The long wait is over and The Suicide Squad has arrived. Not to be confused with Suicide Squad from a couple of years ago. This is a sequel/relaunch and obviously much, much better. James Gunn wrote and directed this new film, and I’m as big a James Gunn fan as everybody else. So I had high hopes for this film and all of them were met and/or exceeded!
Movie Rating: 9/10 – Great.
Take a bunch of unimportant C and D-list supervillains from the annals of DC Comics and put them on a team of black ops specialists is a great idea. They’ve been making fun Suicide Squad comics for years. The team has shown up in the DC cartoons and the DC live action shows. They’re a pretty impressive crew. So it’s a shame that The Suicide Squad has bombed at the box office. We’re definitely never getting a sequel now. C’est la vie.

The first full trailer for Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage graced our internet this week and I thought it looked pretty neat. I wasn’t too impressed with the first Venom film, but I liked it well enough. And me being a sucker for superhero stuff, I’m definitely going to see the sequel whenever it makes it to theaters.
As with most superhero movies, I do have a list of things I’m hoping to see in the film. Is it a reasonable list? Probably not. Are any of my demands going to come true? Maybe? It’s fun to speculate and hope nonetheless. Like, I hope this movie actually comes out on the scheduled release date at the end of September. I hope the resurgence of the coronavirus doesn’t close down movie theaters again. But mostly my hopes are nerdy comic book related, so let’s focus on those after the jump!

It’s that time of year again! San Diego Comic-Con was last weekend, and every year, I put together a List of Six filling out the roster of a famous superhero team. If I were granted creative control on a new comic starring this team, which characters would I choose and why? It’s a very fun tradition — at least for me — and we’re doing it again this year with the Brotherhood of Mutants! But not just any Brotherhood, this is a new one designed around the Dawn of X era!
The Krakoa-era of the X-Men has had a lot of different comics and teams so far, using all manner of classic names. The Marauders is still an ongoing series, and we’ve had X-Force, the New Mutants, X-Factor, the Fallen Angels and, finally, a new flagship X-Men team. But one classic X-group that Marvel hasn’t used yet is the Brotherhood of Mutants. I wonder why. The Brotherhood is a favorite team of mine, and I think Krakoa is a great place to bring them back.
Throughout the years, I’ve already done lists for the Avengers, Justice League, Guardians of the Galaxy, Teen Titans, Fantastic Four and more! I did my core X-Men team a couple years ago, and an X-Force squad. Last year, I created the “Secret X-Men“, the X-comic I would write if I could create it from the ground up.
Join me after the jump for the premise and roster of my Krakoa-era Brotherhood of Mutants team! And feel free to share your own ideas in the comments.

The first season of Loki is over and nothing will ever be the same. Theoretically. I’m excited to see where we go from here and am very pleased with the show. The first three of Marvel Studios’ shows are over and I am happy to say they are all an unqualified success! Oh to live in a world where we get to have and enjoy these shows.
TV Show Rating: 7/10 – Good.
I’m not going to sugar coat things: if I were to rank the first three Marvel Studios shows, as most people online are doing, I would rank Loki last. I’ve never been as big a fan of the character as everybody else seems to be. I never cared for Loki in the comics, and I’m not smitten with him in the MCU. Simple as that. But this was still a solid show, there’s a lot of promise to be had in that big cliffhanger ending and I look forward to more Tom Hiddleston-led adventures in mischief.
