The First Look at LEGO Movie Robin is Not Encouraging
Your favorite sidekick and mine will debut and star in the upcoming LEGO Batman Movie next February. Seeing as how I’m a huge Robin fan, I’m very excited. But knowing how Robin is typically treated in pop culture, I’m also very worried. These first pictures, revealed by USA Today, have me more worried than excited.
Sparkly cape? Big googly eyes? Probably pixie boots? Eh.
Robin will be voiced by Michael Cera, which is fine, I suppose. According to director Chris McKay, Robin starts out as an annoyance to Batman’s lone vigilante style. Batman accidentally adopts him during a charity auction. He describes the character thusly:
“Robin is a super-positive kid who always sees the glass as half full. Really, at the end of the day, he just wants a hug. Michael brings the sweetness and honesty.”
So I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. There should be a new trailer debuting at some point during Comic-Con!

No Sign of Robin in Telltale Batman Game; Literally Unplayable
There’s going to be another Batman video game later this Summer, and it’s going to be made by the Telltale people, who specialize in point-and-click adventure stories. They’re the geniuses behind The Walking Dead game, so Batman is probably in good hands.
Unfortunately, there’s no sign of Robin in this game, so what’s even the point? Should I even bother playing? Maybe Clementine will cameo and it’ll all be worth it.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/16/16
It is a dark day in comics, my friends. But not in the way Marvel probably wants me to think. But I’m not sure I have any idea what Marvel is thinking anymore. I don’t know what drives them. Is it sales? Is it controversy? Is it headlines? Because it’s definitely not storytelling, not anymore.
Civil War II #3 kind of breaks me. But not due to the story or the art. Not even due to the power behind the twist. It breaks me in that I just don’t know why I should care anymore…
Fortunately, this wee also brings us an excellent new issue of Power Man and Iron Fist, and I’m reminded why I care again. Hooray Comic Book of the Week!
Somebody at Marvel is doing something good. I’m gonna stick with that part of Marvel.
Comic Reviews: Civil War II #3, Detective Comics #936, Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy #2, Nightwing Rebirth #1, Power Man and Iron Fist #6, and Wonder Woman #2.
Look at Kid Flash Bein’ All Fancy Pants in his Fancy Pants
The first images of the Kid Flash costume have debuted online today for The Flash TV show on The CW…and they look pretty great. Actor Keiynan Lonsdale has not yet suited up or even gotten speed powers in the regular show, but the start of Season 3 is said to include a ton of shake-ups.
Based on what happened when we first saw the Flash costume at the start of the show, I think they’re going to start filming Kid Flash soon, and The CW would rather get ahead of the reveal than have set snoopers blow everything by leaking pics from the set online. Makes sense to me. I like Wally West on the show, and I hope he makes for a cool Kid Flash.
Though are they going to call him ‘Kid Flash’? That name doesn’t make any sense in the context of the universe. Wally West is hardly a kid, and Barry Allen isn’t that much older than him.
Though does that opening at the top of his head really work when he doesn’t have a big head of hair to stick out? That dip down into the forehead also looks a little weird…
