6 Thoughts on Star Wars: Light of the Jedi (Book Review)
Once upon a time, in my youth, I read a bunch of Star Wars Expanded Universe novels. I loved the X-Wing series starring Rogue and Wraith squadrons, and I read all manner of New Jedi Order, Darth Maul and other stories. I have started reading Star Wars books again in the pandemic, and I just finished the launching point of the new High Republic era: Star Wars: Light of the Jedi. Since this is the internet, this seems like a good place to tell you my thoughts on something Star Wars-related.
Book Rating: 6/10 – Pretty Good.
So the High Republic. I didn’t have many thoughts on the subject when it was first announced, but I was looking for a new book to read and decided to give Light of the Jedi a try. The book is written by Charles Soule, whose comic work I adore, and I figured it might be fun to get in on this new initiative. I’ve also read a couple of the High Republic comics, but none of the Young Adult novels. And suffice to say, I am not impressed. The High Republic, so far, is largely just fine. I suppose it has potential, but I didn’t see much of that in Light of the Jedi.
Join me after the jump for my thoughts and review of Star Wars: Light of the Jedi. Expect MINOR SPOILERS for the book and the new initiative.

I have very much been enjoying WandaVision on Disney+ week in and week out. It’s a fun, exciting, tense, mysterious show, and I’ve been having a blast! That being said, I think WandaVision is a terrible way to introduce mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Along with watching every episode of WandaVision, I’ve also discovered the entire cottage industry on YouTube of reaction videos. I hope people are making good money on this stuff! And I’m reading reviews and recaps and message board comments. There’s so much talk out there about WandaVision, and I have plenty of my own theories, but there’s one fan theory I want to squelch if I can: there is no way WandaVision will or should be the introduction of mutants into the MCU proper.
No spoilers in this opening section! So join me after the jump for more. And expect FULL SPOILERS for WandaVision up until this point (episode 6).

All opinions are my own. Zack Snyder’s version of the Justice League movie — now a 4-hour movie — is only a month or so away and it looks terrible. The first full, official trailer was released on Valentine’s Day and it’s…oh jeez. It’s a beast of a monstrosity.
This isn’t satire. This isn’t parody. This is real. This is…jeez, what is this? Slow, melodramatic, so full of itself…at least he didn’t re-use Hallelujah again! This thing looks like madness, and every trailer is worse than the last. I’m a huge fan of movie trailers, but this looks so unappealing.
I’m probably still gonna watch it! Zack Snyder’s Justice League comes to HBO Max on March 13!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/13/21
I think I’m relatively done with Future State. I gave it the old college try. I read a bunch of Future State comics. Some of them are even very good. But the deluge of comics to read and the largely mediocre stories has broken me. I just don’t care anymore. That being said, I’m definitely going to check out a bunch of Infinite Frontier comics spinning out of Future State, like the continuing adventures of Next Batman and Yara Flor!
Comic Book of the Week goes, once again, to the new issue of Mighty Morphin. It’s maybe not as dramatic as previous issues, but we finally get the reveal of the new Green Ranger! And it’s everything I could have hoped for!
Meanwhile, I’ve been playing Ghost of Tsushima and it’s phenomenal! I love a big, open sandbox game and this is right up there are one of the best. Definitely one of the best looking, that’s for sure.
Comic Reviews: Future State: Dark Detective #3, Future State: Robin Eternal #2, The Green Lantern: Season Two #11, Mighty Morphin #4 and Power Pack #3.

I have been waiting for this comic since the start of Dawn of X! It’s X-Corp! Writer Tini Howard is going to use Angel, Monet and — l’gasp! — Multiple Man to explore the business side of Krakoa! This comic has been promised for a long time, and now Marvel has finally made an official announcement! X-Corp arrives in May!
Marvel had this to say to sum up the series:
The deals have been made. Mutantkind is safe on Krakoa. As the Reign of X continues, what are the wants of the mutants who have everything? Leading the charge is X-CORPORATION, headed by CXOs Monet St. Croix and Warren Worthington, a duo as cutthroat and ruthless in the boardroom as they are on a battlefield. But X-Corp needs more than just its figureheads. As Monet sets out to staff their team with some of the brightest and most deviant minds in mutantkind, Warren finds himself in a tense confrontation with one of Krakoa’s first allies who wants to know the truth: on Angel’s wings, will X-Corp crash or soar?
Tini Howard mentions in the article that the book kept getting pushed back, especially with her working on X of Swords. She says it’s gonna be worth the wait, and I believe her! Artwork will be by Alberto Foche, and you can see an upcoming page right here.
I don’t know about you, but does that look like Matt Rocks down in the corner?
Multiple Man has long been hinted at as being a part of this series, and he joined Angel and Monet in that Empyre crossover that supposedly served as a precursor to X-Corp. And who better to join a business-minded comic than the Madrox dupe that went off to Los Angeles to become a high-priced entertainment lawyer?
You don’t remember Matt Rocks? He was a supporting character in one of Charles Soule’s She-Hulk comics, circa 2014! That would be a fun cameo! And hopefully regular Jamie Madrox gets to join in as well.
I am very excited for X-Corp and very excited to finally see Multiple Man with a reoccurring role in the Krakoa-era!
