The 6 Most Heroic Comic Book Witches
It’s that time of year again, the spookiest time of year! Happy Halloween, my henchies! Welcome to my favorite holiday, which calls for a holiday-themed List of Six! In the past, I’ve done lists on comic book ghosts and classic movie monsters, and this year I’ve decided to focus on everyone’s favorite green-skinned, wart-covered cacklers: witches!
Though witches haven’t been gross and scary for years, thanks to the likes of Willow, Hermione Granger and the ladies of Charmed! Witches are actually kind of cute, and a lot of them are heroes. But not every magic-user can be a witch. It takes a special sort of warrior woman to earn this important rank – though I’ll admit, it helps if they have ‘witch’ in their name.

Marvel Just Won Everything With Amazing Movie Revelations!
Marvel just took DC to school today on how to court the press and the fans about their upcoming movies. Remember a few weeks ago, when we learned DC’s upcoming film slate? Everything from Wonder Woman to Justice League was leaked from a private shareholder’s meeting, and then DC hasn’t done anything since. No casting announcements. No official logos. Not a peep! We’re all just kind of stuck wondering if DC can actually pull it off.
But here comes Marvel with a big LA press conference, hyped for days, and filled to the brim with excited news media. As a fan, I am giddy! I’m excited! Marvel announced new movies for some less famous characters, but I am more confident in Black Panther and Captain Marvel movies than I am in Wonder Woman, Flash or Aquaman films. So take that, DC!
There’s a lot of info and a lot of images. Marvel unveiled a metric ton of logs and film titles today.
So join me after the jump for a full rundown on all of the news and my reactions! And pretty please, share what you think in the comments! I hope you henchies are just as excited as I am!
Disney Villains Make the Best Musicians
The Internet really seems to love Disney villains. I know this isn’t the first musical number I’ve posted featuring them being all dancy and stuff, but it’s a really good one! The video was put together by Oh My Disney, and it parodies the song ‘Counting Stars’ by OneRepublic. I hope you enjoy!
Benedict Cumberbatch is an Ideal Doctor Strange!
Word is spreading like wildfire today that British thespian Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast as Doctor Strange for the upcoming movie! I couldn’t be happier! Seriously, I think he’s the perfect choice for the Sorcerer Supreme, on multiple levels!
Deadline broke the news, and several other agencies are picking it up. They say Cumberbatch is in final negotiations, and I’m fairly certain Deadline has been right about a lot of Marvel’s casting over the months, so this is probably a lock. Woot!
I’m a huge Cumberbatch fan. I first saw him on Sherlock, obviously, which is one of my favorite shows. He’s stellar as the title character, even in these later seasons. I liked him on Star Trek Into Darkness, one of my top two favorite movies last year. And he’s great as the dragon Smaug in the Hobbit films. I haven’t seen any of his smaller, personal work, but who needs to? Cumberbatch has presence, and that’s important!
First of all, he really seems like he’d fit the character. He’s aristocratic, with very noble mannerisms. He’s also more than a little odd. That seems like a solid Doctor Strange to me.
Second of all, people love Cumberbatch! He’s huge with female audiences, which sounds perfect for a Marvel film! He’s got a built-in fanbase who probably already enjoy the Marvel movies, so this team-up sounds like a no-brainer.
So consider me totally on board with this casting! What do you guys and gals think? And check out my list of the 6 things I want to see in the Dr. Strange film!

Review: Constantine: “Non Est Asylum”
Constantine had the best premiere of all the new and old comic book shows this season. The main character easily carries the show, the plot is very engaging and the overall premise looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Maybe it helps that I’ve never seen an episode of Supernatural, or any of the TV shows that owe their origins to the original Hellblazer comic, but I really enjoyed ‘Non Est Asylum’ and will definitely be tuning in to more Constantine. Of course, maybe it also counts against me that I’ve never read a Hellblazer or Constantine comic, and actually enjoyed the 2005 Keanu Reeves movie, but that should just be water under the bridge at this point, right? Pretty please?
TV Rating: 8/10 – Very Good.
This new show on NBC has some real spooky legs. There’s a certain wicked energy at play here that I like. This pilot episode is half-horror movie, half-supernatural adventure, with a hero who fits into both. That sounds like a solid premise for a TV show to me. Throw in a dash of superhero – even if lead character John Constantine doesn’t exactly fit that definition – and you’ve got the makings of a pretty good show. If Supernatural can last for 10 seasons, surely Constantine can find a way to show them how it’s done. Granted, it doesn’t have a Sam and Dean, but who needs pretty boys when you’ve got a hardass like John Constantine? He’s just about the No. 1 thing this pilot got right!
