Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/29/25
I’ve been noticing something weird lately…I don’t really care for Marvel Comics at the moment. All the best comics are coming out of DC. Wild. Anyway, here’s a review list that’s mostly DC Comics!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Wonder Woman #19 for an excellent end to the first story arc, and all the teases for the next story arc. I’m quite satisfied.
Meanwhile, I’m still working my way through Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. The game is everything I hoped it would be and I’m having a blast! Gonna spend a lot of time in this world. I’m currently working my way through the newest season of Invincible. Fun stuff, as expected.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Martian Manhunter #1, Absolute Wonder Woman #6, Batman #158, Power Rangers Prime #5 and Wonder Woman #19.

A few years ago, the Ninja Turtles got a really awesome beat’em up game called Shredder’s Revenge. It was a gorgeous game steeped in TMNT lore and characters, a beautiful callback to the classic arcade games. Well those developers/publishers are back with a Marvel Comics beat’em up game! Because we are allowed to have nice things.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion looks cool as hell! Interesting character choices. Nova with long hair? I suppose. But Phyla-Vell?! That’s a great deep cut! And there’s always a chance for more characters to be added, just like with the Ninja Turtles game. I wish I’d waited to play that until Mondo Gecko was available!
Anyway, this game looks super fun and I hope I get the chance to play it with friends.
Cosmic Invasion comes out sometime later this year.

I Have a Short Comic Coming Up in Museum of the Uncanny!
In my ongoing efforts to become a professional comic book writer, I’ve got another short story coming up! My short story will be part of the upcoming Museum of the Uncanny anthology from Very Big Comics, which is coming to Kickstarter early next month. Right now, we’re collecting advance sign-ups to be notified when the Kickstarter goes live. You don’t have to commit to buying the book at this point, it’s just sign ups for people interested.
So head on over to Kickstarter and click the button to be notified! The more people we get signed up, the better Kickstarter will treat us once the campaign gets going.
My story will be called The Normal Quesadilla Maker That Definitely Can’t Talk. I wrote the script, with artwork by Wren Rios and lettering by Marin.
The title is pretty self explanatory, I think. But here’s the quick blurb I wrote for the piece:
“We assure you the quesadilla maker can’t talk. The manufacturer assures you the quesadilla maker can’t talk. The quesadilla maker itself will assure you it can’t talk.”
The whole anthology is going to be filled with similar stories of weird, funny and spooky objects all collected in the titular museum. I think it’s a neat idea for a comic anthology and I’m so excited that I got picked!
And I hope I can count on you fine readers to sign up for the campaign, and perhaps even order the anthology once the campaign goes live next month! Slowly but surely, I’m gonna keep getting comic stories published. I’m gonna be a contender!

Andor and Doctor Who: A Day for Season 2 Trailers
Yesterday was a day for season 2 trailers, because we got two of them for highly anticipated shows. What a joyful cornucopia of content! I’m excited for both of these shows, and both trailers are solid.
First up is Andor, which has another full trailer. It doesn’t live up to the fun and energy of the first trailer we got a month ago. But another look at Andor is good by me.
Looks good! And looks the same as we’ve seen. Looks like all of the characters come back, and tensions rise, and the Rebellion takes shape. Should be a nice season of political intrigue in the Star Wars universe, which is what we all want to see.
Andor season 2 comes to Disney+ on April 22.
Next up is another trailer for the new season of Doctor Who! We had a first trailer earlier this month, and I think this one is even stronger.
This looks great! Look at the effects. Look at the action. And we get a stronger sense of the overall story. I really dig how this looks and can’t wait to watch! Ncuti Gatwa is a great Doctor, and I hope he has all sorts of upcoming adventures.
Doctor Who season 2 comes to Disney+ on April 12.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/22/25
Welcome back to the world of comic reviews! I’ve been on vacation this week, and one would think that would give me more time to read comics and review them, but nah. I’m as lazy as ever. But we’ve got a good batch this week with the likes of Absolute Flash and G.I. Joe.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Batman #6 for a very bombastic finale to the first story arc.
Meanwhile, I spent the majority of this week finally diving into Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and it’s everything I hoped it would be! I still haven’t mastered combat in the way you’re supposed to, but I do well enough. There needs to be an unlimited training mode/testing ground to practice. I saw The Day the Earth Blew Up in the theaters, and that was a hoot. And then the Severance season 2 finale was the bomb, yo! It’s been a good week.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Batman #6, Absolute Flash #1, Exceptional X-Men #7 and G.I. Joe #5.
