The Top 6 Giant Monsters in Comics (Who Aren’t Godzilla)
Giant monsters are gonna be fighting this week! Godzilla is going to fight King Kong once again, and it’s bound to be some level of great! Movie theaters are open in my area once again, and I’ll actually get to see this film on the big screen! And not only is Godzilla vs. Kong coming out, but Starro appeared in the new trailer for The Suicide Squad! Giant monsters are all the rage this week, so how about a List of Six about giant monsters?
I tried to think of a Godzilla-related List for this week, but I already did one years ago talking about what monsters I’d like to see in the franchise. So unless Godzilla vs. Kong surprises us with an Anguirus cameo, I’m pretty satisfied with monsters — though I wouldn’t mind seeing a modern take on Gigan. So how about a list of some of my favorite giant kaiju monsters from American comic books? Specifically, Marvel and DC superhero comics. I know that’s limiting things, but who has the time and energy to catalogue every giant monster ever? And I’m not counting the Marvel Godzilla comics, because those are pretty generic monsters. I’m talking the best giant monsters that exist in our favorite superhero universes! Let’s do this!
Join me after the jump for the best kaiju to appear in superhero comics!

If only I’d been a little more lazy or a little more patient! I randomly shared some random Netflix TV show trailer earlier today, but nuts to that, because we’ve got a new trailer for Rick and Morty! Woohoo!
Season 5 arrives on June 20! Not much to say about the trailer itself, other than it looks like some more Rick and Morty goodness! What’s not to love about this show? And the millions of episodes and seasons we’re going to be getting in the future!
Rick and Morty forever! Rick and Morty season 5 on June 20! Forever and ever! Woohoo!

Have You Ever Heard of Shadow and Bone?
I had not until I saw this random trailer for an upcoming Netflix show this morning. As I said yesterday, it’s a really slow news week. Almost…bone dry, in terms of news! Nice. Anyway, I didn’t really have anything to post because I’m also really bad at keeping articles ready and waiting for days like today. Thankfully, I found this random trailer for an upcoming Netflix show.
Looks interesting! It also looks like every other YA adaptation every made? Young orphan girl is the chosen one and has a bunch of male suitors as she sets about going to school to master her specialness and then aiding in a revolution? Sounds about right. But it’s a slow, idle Tuesday and Shadow and Bone looks interesting enough to share.
The series comes to Netflix on April 23.

Black Adam Has a Release Date (Maybe)
On Sunday, the tentative release date for the Black Adam movie was announced for July 29, 2022. I say “tentative” because movies get delayed all the time. So who knows? But The Rock and all the other cast members have at least started filming. Or they will any day now.
It’s a pretty slow news day today, which is why all I’m posting is a release date announcement. I’m a little surprised that the Black Adam movie is finally getting made. And then I was reminded that The Rock was cast as Black Adam all the way back in 2007!
Come on! That was nearly 14 years ago! That’s insane! What the hell was life even like 14 years ago? I was still a young man! And where have those 14 years gone?! What have I done with my life?
Oh…oh god…

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/27/20
Good news, everybody! My local movie theater is open again and I just saw Nobody! The first movie in theaters in a year — if we don’t count that fun story I have about finally seeing Tenet. Nobody was fine. I’m still surprised it was not a parody. But enough about movies, what about comics? Like Detective Comics and Harley Quinn! Though this is one of those rare weeks where I didn’t read any Marvel comics…
Comic Book of the Week goes to Power Rangers #5 with a lot of fun new character arrivals and exposition dumps!
Meanwhile, another banger episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier! Loving this show! And on the side, I’ve started watching Snowpiercer. It’s pretty good so far. Enjoyable. Nothing amazing, but it gets the job done. I’m also going to try to finish off the new DuckTales cartoon. I’ve very much enjoyed that show.
Comic Reviews: Detective Comics #1034, Harley Quinn #1 and Power Rangers #5.
