Lightyear: I Love the Song, I Hate the Cat
A new, full trailer has come out for Lightyear, the Buzz Lightyear origin movie starring Chris Evans. I liked the teaser trailer better, and I definitely still love the haunting use of David Bowie’s “Starman”. But now I really, really hate the robotic cat.
This has become a real pet peeve of mine in animated movies: useless animal sidekicks. It’s definitely going to spawn a List of Six in a couple of weeks. Sometimes you get an animal sidekick like Mushu, who actually participates in the story. Other times you get the chicken from Moana. That stupid chicken. And now we’ve got this robo-cat. We don’t yet know his role in the story of Lightyear, but my Spidey Sense is tingling that this is not good.
We’ll find out on June 17 when Lightyear comes to…theaters? It’s a Pixar movie, so Disney might just dump it on Disney+ again. We shall see!

I Dunno, Eternals Honest Trailer
This has been one heck of a boring week. Work is work, life is life, and there just hasn’t been much to share online. So what the heck, let’s watch the Honest Trailer for Eternals.
And that was all in good fun. I actually enjoyed Eternals quite a bit and would love to see a sequel. But there’s also nothing wrong with poking a bit of fun at the whole thing. At least it gets us through a Friday.
Now to spend the rest of my day debating on whether or not to treat myself to Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

6 Female Villains for the Marvel Cinematic Universe
The world and the Marvel Cinematic Universe need more awesome female super-villains. We’ve had a couple so far, but who else is waiting in the wings? Who are some awesome lady villains that Marvel can put into their movies and TV shows? There are a ton of such characters available in the comics, and I’ve definitely got some favorites to mention. I’m talking really villainous roles, characters who aren’t going to switch to the good guys in the long run.
As we all know, Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter is a horrible, sexist person who put his foot down about women getting any sort of leading role, be it hero or villain. He famously made them change the villain of Iron Man 3 to not be Maya Hansen, even though she would have been a great villain. Thankfully, Perlmutter is gone, and Marvel women can let their evil flags fly! We’ve already had Hela, Ghost, Agatha Harkness, Ravonna Renslayer and gender-flipped Flag Smasher and Taskmaster, but that list is way too small. Who are some other options?
Join me after the jump for six of Marvel’s best choices for new female villains for the MCU!

There’s really going to be a Batgirl movie coming out later this year. It’s going to star Leslie Grace, with a return of J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Filming has started, so set photos have started leaking. Well this past weekend, Grace and Warner Bros decided to get out ahead of those leaks and just reveal the Batgirl costume to the world on her Instagram.
I like it, though I do think it’s a little too glossy in this picture. She’s a street-level vigilante, not a character in a parade. Still, the costume is clearly based on the Batgirl of Burnside era, which I loved. So I’m all for that as a foundation. It had some fun stories, some original villains, a great social life for Babs and much more. There’s also clearly a bit of original 1960s Yvonne Craig Batgirl in the costume, which I’m not as cool with. Let the past stay in the past. DC needs to stop mining their mid-1900s TV shows and movies. Make a clean break!

6 Things I Want to See in a New Spider-Man Movie Trilogy
Spider-Man: No Way Home was an awesome movie and a great origin story for actor Tom Holland to truly become a classic Spider-Man. In a perfect world, Holland would be 100% on board with keeping the character moving forward, giving us another full trilogy or series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The powers that be at Marvel and Sony have said they’re already working on a new trilogy, though Holland has been real cagey about his involvement.
Assuming we do get Tom Holland back in the spider-tights and we continue the story of the MCU Peter Parker, what are we going to get? The ending to Spider-Man: No Way Home is rather perfect to springboard into more movies, and there is a ton of Spider-Man content from the comics we could explore. Also in this perfect world of mine, Marvel Studios actually reads this blog and takes some of my ideas! So what do I, a major fan of the MCU and Spider-Man in general, want to see in a future Tom Holland trilogy of films?
Join me after the jump for some of my ideas. I’ll try to keep SPOILERS for No Way Home to a minimum, but definitely don’t read if you don’t want to know anything about the movie. And feel free to share your own thoughts and hopes in the comments!
