The 6 Characters in My Fantastic Four
Welcome to Comic-Con Week! The party is down in San Diego, but I’m still here in Central New York, doin’ my thang. Someday I’ll be at the big show, but until then, I’m gonna have some fun on my blog. In what has become a fun tradition here at Henchman-4-Hire, it’s time to pick a superhero dream team!
This year, I’m going to tackle the Fantastic Four! I’ve never been a diehard fan of the team, but I think I have some neat ideas. In the past, I’ve done the X-Men, Avengers, Justice League, Teen Titans, X-Force and even the Sinister Six. But today I’m all about the Four!
You’d think the Fantastic Four list would be easy. Heck, you might even take umbrage with the fact that I’m making a List of SIX out of the Fantastic FOUR. Well, don’t worry, friends, because I think I’ve got some solid ideas. Unlike most superhero teams, the Fantastic Four rarely change their roster. They tend to stick with Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and the Thing. It’s a solid family dynamic and has served the comic well for decades. But every once and awhile, Marvel likes to shake-up the line-up and try some new stories.
If I was hired to write the Fantastic Four and had cart blanche to do and write whatever I wanted, this would be my Fantastic Four roster.
And feel free to join me in the comments with your own fantasy Fantastic Four!
6 Pop Culture Characters I Love For No Particular Reason
I think this blog is testament to the fact that I am a pop culture aficionado. I love movies, TV shows, books, comics, video games and all manner of storytelling and fiction. I hope to be a fiction writer myself some day, and am even working on my own comic book. And like all good people of this Earth, I have my favorite characters in my favorite media.
But sometimes, those favorites don’t make much sense.
Leonardo is my favorite Ninja Turtle because of his noble spirit and badass katana blades. The Green Ranger is my favorite Power Ranger because he was this cool, rebellious sixth Ranger. Multiple Man is my favorite superhero because I like his sense of humor, and because he was one of the characters who helped usher young Sean into a better understanding of superhero comics. I love Robin the Boy Wonder because I’ve always considered myself more of a sidekick than a leader, especially when compared to some of my more alpha male friends back in my youth.
But there are some characters out there whom I love passionately, but have no legitimate reason why. Join me after the jump to find out who!
6 Other 90s Kids Show That Deserve a Movie Adaptation
There’s going to be a Power Rangers movie, you guys! Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers was the show of shows when I was a kid in the 90s! I watched it every day after school. I still consider the Green Ranger one of the greatest heroes of all time. And I have nothing but fond memories of Zordon, the Black Ranger, Lord Zedd and all the rest of those multi-colored knuckleheads. I don’t know if this movie is going to be any good, but my fuzzy memories will never die.
This Power Rangers movie has also got me thinking: have we finally moved on to adapting 90s kids’ shows into live action, realistic movies? Are the 80s already tapped out? We’ve had movies for the Transformers, G.I. Joe, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jem, and I know a new He-Man movie is in the works. The 80s have given us many good to blah movie franchises, but their well of quality kids’ shows is not infinite. Is it time to move on to the 90s?
Good thing I watched kids’ shows back then too, and I’ve got some solid suggestions for Hollywood!
6 Superheroes I Would Pay For in Marvel’s Avengers Academy Game
Against my better judgement and all odds, I’m still playing Marvel’s Avengers Academy mobile game. I didn’t have very many nice things to say about it in my List Review, but the entire point of mobile games like this are to just stay hooked and never let go. Sadly, I must admit than the prospect of seeing this alternate Marvel Universe expand has me hanging on.
Good thing I haven’t spent one red cent on the game.
Ostensibly, Avengers Academy would probably love to have me pay them actual money to play. They offer all manner of tantalizing doodads to buy, from event currency to special decorations to, most tempting of all: unique characters. Were I so inclined, I could buy the likes of Spider-Woman, Vision, War Machine, Captain Britain or Sif to join my Academy…but I’m not. I’m not about to spend a dime!
Unless, perhaps, Avengers Academy offers any of the following characters.
6 Marvel Superhero Video Games I Want To Play
The big superhero video game news this week is that Spider-Man is finally coming back to gaming! It won’t be a movie tie-in or a kiddie game. Instead, it looks to be a return to glory with Spidey swinging around a digital Manhattan! They perfected the gameplay back with the now-legendary Spider-Man 2 game back on the Playstation 2. Surely the Playstation 4 era can do something just as good.
Beyond the new Spider-Man game, word is also coming out of Marvel that they want to put more effort into their superhero video games. No longer will they churn out crummy movie tie-in games. It sounds like Marvel wants to do for their video games what they built for their movies. Perhaps the overwhelming success of the Batman: Arkham franchise has convinced Marvel that there is money and notoriety to be had in the world of video games!
This sounds great to me (even though I don’t own a Playstation 4, and likely won’t get to play the new Spider-Man game)! And I’m just the guy to offer Marvel a few suggestions for possible video games.
