6 Minor Things that Really Grind My Gears
This List is all about gripes. We’ve all got gripes. Be they big complaints or minor nitpicks, none of us is perfectly happy with every single facet of the world. I’ve gone on a few rants in my day on this blog, sometimes over little things. I can’t even remember them all. But over time, I’ve been collecting a few specific things that really grind my gears and I’ve put them into a new List of Six.
I’m sure I have a lot more gripes and complaints with the world than these six. But these ones are still pretty good. They’re just facets of the world that get under my skin, like nails on a chalkboard. These are all probably completely innocuous, but I just want to get them off my chest.
Join me after the jump for six dumb little things that really grind my gears. And feel free to share some of your own in the comments!
My 6 Favorite Animated Movies of All Time (This Week)
I went and saw Kubo and the Two Strings last weekend, excited by the captivating trailers. It was a fine film and quite enjoyable, but not the epic adventure I was hoping to see. A student of art craft would probably love it a lot more, considering all the work that LAIKA studios put into the stop-motion animation. But I’m not very good at marveling at that sort of thing. I just enjoyed a nice movie.
And seeing a quality animated film on the big screen has me wondering about all the animated films I’ve loved in the past! I’m a huge fan of cartoons and have watched so many in my lifetime that I’ve probably forgotten a few. Right now, BoJack Horseman and Steven Universe are probably the two best TV shows on the air. And films like Finding Dory and The Secret Lives of Pets are two of the hottest films of an otherwise disappointing summer. Loving cartoons is just who am I.
So join me after the jump for my six favorite cartoon movies of all time — at least right now. Whims and memories could change these at any moment! And feel free to share your own favorites in the comments.
The 6 Spookiest Comic Book Necromancers
Necromancy is pretty spooky stuff. Raising the dead, summoning skeletons, speaking to ghosts; it’s a creepy treasure trove of super-powers that don’t exactly lend themselves to anyone heroic. But I’m actually a big fan! The Necromancer was my first hero choice in Diablo II, and just the other day, I started a brand new Skyrim character with the intent to build her into a Necromancer. And remind me to tell you (and the world) someday about Mandi, the World’s Most Adorable Necromancer.
As I embark upon my new Skyrim quest of raising zombies to fight dragons (because video games are awesome), I’ve decided to look over the comic book universe to see what heroes and villains share in this power. Considering how often superheroes come back from the dead, you’d think it would be more common! But nope, there’s only a handful, and they are a pretty spooky bunch!
6 Thoughts on Pokemon GO
It’s been a month now since Pokemon GO took over the world, and I’d like to think everything has changed for the better — though I suppose nothing has really changed at all. The world is still the world. And Pokemon GO has not yet become the perfect game it was always meant to be. It’s got a long way to go and a lot of updates ahead of itself. But hey, at least it’s fun.
Right now, I’m level 18 and am on Team Valor. I’ve seen and caught 60 pokemon with a pretty empty Pokedex. I’ve captured a few gyms, but one can’t really hold a gym for long. I’m not really in it for the gyms anyway. My strongest team is made up of mostly Eevee evolutions, because that’s just pretty easy, apparently. And I catch more Weedles and Rattatas than one would ever want. Fortunately, that just keeps boosting up my Stardust reserve for when I really need that stuff down the line.
I’m excited to see the world get into a pokemon mood, and I’m doubly excited now for Pokemon Sun and Moon coming in November. So join me after the jump for my thoughts on the phenomenon that is Pokemon GO!
6 Suicide Squad Sequel Recruits
Despite the negative reviews that are already flooding onto the Internet, I’m still excited for Suicide Squad this weekend. It’s an exciting cast of crazy comic book characters and some potentially electric comedy and action. Or maybe it’ll be a stinker. I dunno. I’m not a psychic! But I am going to predict Suicide Squad will at least get a sequel!
If it doesn’t get a sequel, then this list will be worthless. But I’m going to power ahead anyway and still buy my ticket tomorrow night. I like playing with comic book characters and I like pretending somebody cares about my thoughts on big time Hollywood movies. That’s a dangerous combination any day of the week, but it’s doubly crazy here on the Internet. If I’m not careful, I might cast the entire DCCU while I’m at it!
Feel free to share some of your potential sequel recruits in the comments!
