Here Comes the Next Disney Animated Movie
Tonight I’m going to see a new Disney marvel superhero movie! Got my ticket for Black Widow already! But also today, we’ve got the first teaser trailer for Encanto, the next Disney animated movie. Looks pretty fun.
I’m very much enjoying most Disney animated movies these days. A lot more than Pixar movies. So here’s hoping! And this one also appears to be about superheroes? That’s always fun.
Encanto comes out in November.

Top 6 Russian Superheroes (Ready for a Black Widow Sequel)
The Black Widow movie is coming out this weekend and I’ve already got my ticket for the early showing! I can’t wait for a new Marvel movie after this two year absence. What can I say? I’m an unapologetic Marvel fan boy! I’m excited for the film and very excited for what it might introduce going forward.
We may get a Black Widow 2 one of these days.
I haven’t seen the movie yet, but everybody seems pretty convinced that Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will take over as the MCU’s new Black Widow. Sounds like a good idea to me. There are a ton of different directions to take such a character, with the most obvious being a sequel that sees Yelena go off on her own Russian adventures. If that’s the case, Marvel is going to need to dust off some of their classic Russian superheroes and villains to make a showing. The Black Widow movie will introduce Red Guardian, so what about the rest?
Join me after the jump for an enclave of Marvel’s Russian characters who are just waiting for a sequel opportunity!

I never got around to watching Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge. It’s on my hard drive somewhere and perhaps I will one of these days. I definitely should watch it ahead of its brand new sequel. Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms.
I definitely want to watch this new film because it has my favorite character, Smoke. That’s all it takes for me to watch. The animation looks really good in these movies. And it’s probably going to be far more accurate to the games and lore than the live action movie we got only a couple of months ago.
HBO should just make an ongoing Mortal Kombat cartoon series. Netflix got a lot of traction out of that awesome Castlevania show. A Mortal Kombat show could run for plenty of seasons, with so many characters. Think about it, HBO Max! You need more foundational shows!
Battle of the Realms comes out on Aug. 31.

So, Masters of the Universe: Revelation Looks Great!
I missed posting the first trailer when it came out a couple weeks ago, but thankfully we’ve got a new trailer for Masters of the Universe: Revelation so I now have an excuse to post them both! Behold the epic fantasy of the latest He-Man cartoon relaunch!
It looks great! It looks action-packed and dripping in lore and mythology. It looks like people took some real time and effort to plot out and plan how to bring back He-Man with some oomph. That sounds good to me.
I was a big He-Man fan when I was a kid. It was definitely part of my 80s childhood rotation of Ninja Turtles/G.I. Joe/Transformers and more. So I’m all in favor of this cartoon. I’m still a little disappointed that He-Man never had a guest appearance on She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, but time will heal that wound.
If Masters of the Universe: Revelation has even a fraction of the storytelling prowess of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power then we are in for a good time!
He-Man returns, on Netflix, on July 23.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/3/21
Welcome to the fifth week of June in terms of comic book releases! That means very little was released this week, and I read very little of that. So really, we’re got a pretty news-worthy issue of X-Factor to wrap up the Hellfire Gala and then another brilliant issue of Beta Ray Bill.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Beta Ray Bill #4, carrying this series through as a Comic Book of the Year contender. With artwork this gorgeous, why to the rest of us even exist?
Meanwhile, life continues as expected. The Loki show is still great. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is still great. And by this time next week, I’ll have seen Black Widow! So huzzah!
Comic Reviews: Beta Ray Bill #4 and X-Factor #10.
