There’s Gonna Be a Wonder Man Show!

The rumors have been swirling for a while that a Wonder Man TV show as in the works from Marvel Studios. I’m all for it. I’m all for any show or movie or special presentation that Marvel wants to make next. I’m a sucker like that. So they want to make Wonder Man? Heck yeah!

Especially since they have cast Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Wonder Man!

He’s a great actor. He was perfectly cast as Black Manta in the Aquaman movie. He was great as Dr. Manhattan in the Watchmen TV show. I’m sure I’ve seen him in other roles. Abdul-Mateen should be great! It’s going to be directed and produced by Destin Daniel Cretton, the guy behind Shang-Chi, with help from Andrew Guest, who worked on Hawkeye. Sounds like a winning team. So bring on the Wonder Man TV show on Disney+ and lets all skewer Hollywood together!

Maybe he’ll need an entertainment lawyer and Jennifer Walters can cameo.

Happy Halloween, Re-Animated!

Happy Halloween, everybody! This is my favorite holiday. I love the pageantry of Halloween. I love that we as a society, through years of tradition and fun, created a night where children dress up in fun costumes and go door-to-door asking for free candy with a magic code phrase. It’s insane and awesome and silly.

To celebrate the holiday, our good friend at Tell It Animated has updated their Michael Myers video to include the new trilogy! I very much disliked the new trilogy and am glad it’s over, but at least we get this fun video. Spoilers for the new trilogy, by the way.

Fun times! I will always share Tell It Animated videos because they look like both a lot of work and a labor of love! And it will continue to give me the chance to recommend he do Robin next! Plenty of Robins to choose from!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/28/22

Big congratulations to my friend and comic writing partner Kristi McDowell for a successful Kickstarter for Fairytales From Mars! And big thanks to everyone here who followed the link and pitched in to the campaign. Always fun when my friends get to live out their comic book dreams. Next up is me next year!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #101 because I am easy to please and this is an excellent start to the next era of BOOM! Studios Power Rangers comics.

Just when you thought the Dragonzord couldn’t get any cooler

Meanwhile, I had a big pile of comics to read and review this week, so I skipped the latest issue of Amazing Spider-Man. I’ll get back to it eventually…hopefully. Other than that, I very much enjoyed Black Adam, and I’m eagerly anticipating Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. So life is pretty good in terms of content to enjoy.

Comic Reviews: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #101, Strange Academy: Finals #1, Thunderbolts #3, Tim Drake: Robin #2, The Variants #4 and X-Terminators #2.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is Gonna Be Lit

We are living in an age of uncompromising Marvel Studios entertainment, people. We’re only a few short weeks out of the end of She-Hulk: Attorney for Hire, which was great. We’re only a few short weeks away from the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which early reactions hail as great. We had a great Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania trailer only a few days ago. And now we’ve got our first look at The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which comes out in a month!

Looks great to me! James Gunn and the whole cast are back to make a fun Christmas romp. I’m pretty sure this was Gunn’s idea, so it’s not like Marvel forced this upon him. So it should be a hoot and a half. And it’s going to set up Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for next year, so that’s even better!

Meanwhile, Gunn has taken the job at the newly minted DC Universe of movies. Good for him! I loved The Suicide Squad and loved Peacemaker, so I’ve no doubt he’s going to deliver some great DC products going forward! Here’s hoping that’s true.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special comes to Disney+ on Nov. 25.

6 Thoughts on Black Adam (Review)

The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe has never been more in flux. At long last, the Black Adam movie is upon us. We’ve been waiting for this film ever since Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was first cast in the role in 2007. We’ve been waiting for this film since the DCEU sorta fell apart after Justice League. Is Black Adam the savior that this cinematic universe has been waiting for?

Probably not, but it was an alright flick.

Movie Rating: 7/10 – Good

I’ll admit that I probably went into Black Adam a little biased. Not against the character or DC, because I’m a comic book fan who loves all this stuff. But The Rock’s constant hyping of this movie, coupled with DCEU fanboys desperate for a hit, really started rubbing me the wrong way. This isn’t the second coming of superhero movies, and I doubt it’s going to really change the shape of DC movies going forward. I think it was just an enjoyable superhero film.

Join me after the jump for my thoughts and full review of Black Adam. Expect FULL SPOILERS for the film. And feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments down below.
