Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/18/23

Everything’s coming up Milhouse! What an excellent week for comics, my friends! Oddly, none of the DC titles I’m currently reading came out this week. But a metric ton of Marvel comics I’m into did! So we’ve got new Fantastic Four, X-Men, Invincible Iron Man and more!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #105 because this series continues to be simply my favorite. Especially thanks to cute and funny moments like this.

Prepare for robot fights

Meanwhile, if you’re reading this the day it’s posted, I’ll be going to see Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania today! I’m excited, because I like the Ant-Man movies. It’s getting some mixed reviews, but all those reviews point to a movie that I’m still likely to enjoy. I wasn’t able to see it opening night because I was still at work. Ain’t that a kicker? But it should be fun, and I’ll post my review/thoughts on Wednesday.

Comic Reviews: Fantastic Four #4, Invincible Iron Man #3, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #105, Monica Rambeau: Photon #3, Wasp #3 and X-Men #19.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/22/22

Comics, we’ve got comics! New comics! Returning comics! We’ve got everything you could want. From X-Men to the start of GCPD: The Blue Wall. Is it the next incarnation of Gotham Central? Let’s hope so!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Nightwing #97 because it’s just another wonderful caper of an adventure.

Renee Montoya is the surprise star this week

Meanwhile, I just finished The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and I loved it! Fun show, fun use of the material, and a really cool ending. I haven’t seen Black Adam yet, but I will this afternoon. So check back on Wednesday for my thoughts and review on Black Adam.

Comic Reviews: GCPD: The Blue Wall #1, Nightwing #97 and X-Men #16.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/25/22

You know what happens when you don’t read comics you don’t like? You get a week like this one, where everything I read was a banger! Amazing Spider-Man finally stepped up to reveal the cleverness I knew was there, and any week with Nightwing is a good week.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Immortal X-Men #3 for a touching and suspenseful focus on Destiny, the character and the concept.

Not especially

Meanwhile, I continue to explore everything AppleTV+ has to offer. I’m enjoying Dickinson, and Foundation turned out to be pretty OK in the long run. I finished up Sniper Elite 5, which was great, and I plan to spend this weekend rocking some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge!

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #4, Immortal X-Men #3, Nightwing #93 and X-Men #12.

My 6 X-Men Comic Book Ideas (for the Krakoa Era)

My lifelong dream is to become a professional writer. And while I am currently working on a self-published comic book series — Gamer Girl & Vixen — I’m also constantly dreaming up ideas for new comics and stories and characters. And a lot of time, I do this daydreaming for actual, existing properties. Because someday, universe willing, I might get invited to pitch to Marvel Comics.

The only thing this is missing is a healthy dose of yours truly

But I’m not getting invited to pitch tomorrow, so I thought a fun little game would be to share some of my X-Men comic ideas with all of you. I was inspired by the announcement last week that Leah Williams will be writing a new X-Terminators series, in which a bunch of cool characters will have a fun and wild adventure for five issues. That is exactly what I want to do: pitch a bunch of 5-issue, X-Men mini-series to Marvel, just to have some fun and write some cool X-Men.

So join me after the jump for a peek at my creator notebook for some random X-Men comic book ideas!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/16/22

Welcome to another little pile of comic book reviews from this random nobody on the internet! Apparently I had a pretty off week this week because nothing stood out as all that great, and some comics with faults really started to get to me. Oh well.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin #8 for another one of their excellent downtime issues. The new creative team is still doing OK in my book.

He makes house calls

Meanwhile, I’m nearing the end of Horizon Forbidden West and this game lived up to all my hopes and expectations. I’m gonna stretch it out as far as I can and enjoy the world. I also finally watched Sweet Tooth on Netflix and it was really good! Can’t wait for the next season.

Comic Reviews: Batgirls #5, Mighty Morphin #18, Superman: Son of Kal-El #10 and X-Men #10.
