Iron Fist Punches, Kicks and Cements His Place in Our Anticipation Schedule!

Iron Fist was apparently the star of New York Comic-Con on Saturday, as Marvel trotted out a bunch of clips from the upcoming Netflix show and a brand new, bigger, better trailer!

I know I say this a lot, but it looks pretty great to me! I’ve been a fan of every Marvel Netflix show, and they’ve once again made a really great trailer. I suppose it’s not that hard to make a great trailer, especially for the people at Marvel. They’ve been on point in their trailer game for a long darn time.

But this Iron Fist trailer looks great! The fighting looks cool, and I like the thump, thump, thump of the hits. The mystery sounds nifty and, based on some of the clips that were shown off at Comic-Con, the show sounds like it’ll be another hit. Plus, that’s totally Madame Gao in that trailer. That’s gonna be sweet.

Though that dragon tattoo on his chest looks kind of dumb. Hopefully he gets his super suit before too long, and hopefully it’s based on the modern design.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/24/16

This was a banner week for comics. I grabbed a whole pile, read a whole bunch, and largely enjoyed myself. Comics are a fun medium, with lots of good stories, great characters all manner of adventure. And this week was especially good, with new issues of All-New Wolverine, Luke Cage & Iron Fist, Patsy Walker and even Mighty Thor; talk about a handful of favorites!

But Comic Book of the Week has to go to the new issue of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers from BOOM! Studios! This comic is tapping into every single one of my nostalgic veins, and I can’t stand it sometimes.

‘Member Megazord? ‘Member Green Ranger? I ‘member Green Ranger! ‘Member Dragonzord? Yeah!

I also picked up the latest issue of Civil War II, but this series is just a mess. There’s no real character depth, no real rivalry or focus. This is possibly the flimsiest Big Event I’ve read in a good long while. It’s all just nonsense, and I’m glad I dropped it quick.

The Night of the Monster Men event running through the Batman comics is shaping up to be pretty cool, though. I didn’t bother reviewing the issues, but they’re fun nonetheless.

Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #12, Astonishing Ant-Man #12, Harley Quinn #4, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers #7, Mighty Thor #11, Patsy Walker a.k.a. Hellcat #10 and Power Man & Iron Fist #8.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/20/16

Comics. We all love them. We all read them. I, for one, like to write them as well. And sure enough, I’m back with another pile of quality comics for this week’s reviews. A bunch of my favorites found their way into my pile this week, and I actually had a tough time choosing the best!

But Power Man and Iron Fist #7 easily wins Comic Book of the Week. I absolutely love the world and the characters that writer David Walker is creating. It all feels so real, and so personal for Luke Cage and Danny Rand. I hope they were this good back in the 70s. And I hope their upcoming TV shows are just as good!

“And if it looks like Darth Vader, it’s really you inside. Fair warning.”

Though this week is not without it’s stinkers. Hold on to your utility belts, everybody, because I’m pretty sure I’m probably done with Tom King’s Batman.

Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #11, Batman #5, Mighty Thor #10, Nightwing #3, Power Man and Iron Fist #7 and Spider-Woman #10.

We’ve got Defenders Trailers Here! Step Right Up and Get Your Defenders Trailers!

Comic-Con is in full swing this weekend, and Marvel and Netflix came out swinging last night with a slew of trailers for their various upcoming TV shows. All of them look great, and I can’t wait to see the shows when they land on our viewing screens this Fall and next year. Plus, Daredevil has been confirmed for a third season, so that’s nice.

Iron Fist

The Defenders

We’ve got some good TV watching ahead of us!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/16/16

It is a dark day in comics, my friends. But not in the way Marvel probably wants me to think. But I’m not sure I have any idea what Marvel is thinking anymore. I don’t know what drives them. Is it sales? Is it controversy? Is it headlines? Because it’s definitely not storytelling, not anymore.

Civil War II #3 kind of breaks me. But not due to the story or the art. Not even due to the power behind the twist. It breaks me in that I just don’t know why I should care anymore…

Fortunately, this wee also brings us an excellent new issue of Power Man and Iron Fist, and I’m reminded why I care again. Hooray Comic Book of the Week!

Don’t forget Wolverine!

Somebody at Marvel is doing something good. I’m gonna stick with that part of Marvel.

Comic Reviews: Civil War II #3, Detective Comics #936, Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy #2, Nightwing Rebirth #1, Power Man and Iron Fist #6, and Wonder Woman #2.
