Armor Wars is Our Best Chance Ever to Get Stingray Into the MCU
Last week, Disney and Marvel announced a metric ton of new shows and characters coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’re getting Ironheart, we’re getting Secret Invasion, we’re getting She-Hulk, we’re getting America Chavez, we’re getting Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania; we’re getting so so so much content over the next few years! It’s going to be great!
Most exciting at all (debatable) is the fact that Stingray could finally make an appearance in the new TV show Armor Wars, starring Don Cheadle as War Machine.
Why is this the best chance to get Stingray into the MCU? I’m so glad you asked!
Armor Wars is a classic Iron Man story from the late 1980s, wherein Tony Stark discovers that his armor technology has been stolen and integrated into several armored villains from around the Marvel Universe. So Tony launches a crusade to shut this stuff down, taking on all of these villains…and then it evolves to taking on anyone with armor. He wants to get his tech out of the hands of everybody.
And one of this suspects is, our favorite, Stingray.
So Iron Man goes after Stingray and battles his fellow Avenger. It’s hero vs. hero! But in the end, after defeating Stingray, Tony learns that Stingray’s armor is not based on Stark designs. He attacked a hero and fellow Avenger for no good reason!
It’s a bit of a turning point in the Armor Wars story…and easily something that could be a turning point in the TV show! It’s one thing to take on the likes of Stilt-Man and the Controller, but to beat up a fellow Avenger? A fellow hero? That’s a big deal! And great for TV drama.
If you’d like to learn more about what the heck I’m talking about, the Iron Man cartoon from the 1990s did an Armor Wars two-parter. And both episodes are available on YouTube! And Disney+, if you’re subscribed.
But YouTube clips are easier to share on this blog. So check out this episode. The Stingray portion begins at the 4:00 mark.
How fun is that? Such an underrated show.
Also, now that I think about it, Armor Wars is also our best chance of getting Stilt-Man into the MCU. That’s also exciting!

All the New Marvel Trailers: Loki, Falcon & Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Ms. Marvel!
The big Disney investor summit took place tonight and they dropped so much info about upcoming Disney projects that I am not equipped to handle it all! But what I can do is share a bunch of awesome trailers that were released online Thursday night! And they are some great trailers! Disney and Marvel are sparing no expense!
Not for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
It arrives on March 19.
Not for WandaVision.
That’s coming on Jan. 15.
We get our first look at the Loki show.
That’s coming in the fall of 2021.
We even got our first ever footage of the Ms. Marvel show! Holy cow!
That thing has barely begun filming, so I’m so excited to see even a little footage! We also heard that Kamala Khan is already planned to jump into the Captain Marvel 2 movie when that comes around!
Then here’s a big look at the What If…? series, coming in the summer.
And in just general news, we had the Fantastic Four movie confirmed for sure, complete with initial logo. And Jon Watts, the director of the MCU Spider-Man movies, will direct the Fantastic Four movie.
Further on in TV news, Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn (Talos the Skrull) will star in a Secret Invasion TV show. Don Cheadle will return as War Machine in an Armor Wars show, wherein bad guys get their hands on Iron Man technology. Dominique Thorne has been cast as Riri Williams in an Ironheart TV show. Tatiana Maslany has been confirmed as Jennifer Walters in a She-Hulk show, which will also see the return of Tim Roth as Abomination! James Gunn is doing a Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special for 2022.
So yeah, a ton of big news! How exciting! Now let’s go watch those trailers again…

6 Random Star Wars Characters I Want the Mandalorian to Meet
The Mandalorian TV show finally featured Ahsoka Tano in her highly anticipated cameo appearance. It was great and I loved it! This season also saw appearances from Cobb Vanth and Bo-Katan, two other Expanded Universe characters brought in from other media. As a long time Star Wars fan, I think this is a great use of the EU!
The Mandalorian is a show where our hero, Din Djarin, and his kid sidekick, Baby Yoda, travel to different planets and help out random characters that they meet. Mostly this involved brand new original characters — which is perfectly fine — but this season has featured plenty of pre-existing Star Wars characters. I would love for that to continue and have plenty of ideas of my own for cameos!
Join me after the jump for six pre-existing Star Wars characters that I would love to see show up on The Mandalorian! Expect some SPOILERS for recent episodes. And feel free to share your own character ideas in the comments!
