New Trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever!
This was a surprise, and a welcome one! A new, full trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrived on our internet today and it’s a pretty solid trailer. Not as magical as that music-heavy first trailer, but still pretty solid in terms of showing off the show.
I think Atlantis vs. Wakanda is a great premise/story for the sequel. It keeps things in the realm of kings and kingdoms, and is a pretty big story in its own right. We get confirmation of Ironheart suiting up in the movie — which was probably a given — and many more guesses can be made at the identity of the new, female Black Panther. My money is on Shuri…but it’s also on Shuri starting out in the role, but Nakia getting it by the end. But we’ll see. I have no real clue. Movie looks great!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters a month from now on Nov. 11.

Marvel Studios Bring the Awesome!
Marvel Studios returned to San Diego Comic Con for the first time in years last night, and they brought the power. They outline the ending of Phase 4 and all of Phase 5, with a hint at Phase 6 even, stretching out into 2025. It all looks pretty great to me!
Specifically, we got some great trailers. Like this first look at the next movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
That is a damn powerful trailer. I am perfectly fine with the idea of not casting the late Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa. It would have been very simple to just recast him and tell another story where Black Panther fights a new bad guy. But it’s a real creative challenge for everybody else to come together and come up with a great new story that pays respect to his death and legacy. I’m excited!
We also got a new trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. I’m excited for this show, and this trailer looks good.
Some of the CGI looks wonky still, and some looks better. The whole thing overall looks like a great watch. She-Hulk is a fun character, and I really want a procedural law show starring She-Hulk and a bunch of comic book stuff. Should be fun!
Those were the only trailers we got, though the people at Comic Con got some exclusive footage from a bunch of other projects. Good for them.
We got a few new projects revealed last night, all of which sound great.
Out of those, I’m definitely looking forward to what they end up doing with Thunderbolts. And new Avengers movies sound great to me! We have three whole years for them to put together a new Avengers team to star in Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. And new Daredevil and Captain America stuff should be a hoot!
Marvel Studios had a great night at Comic-Con and I’m looking forward to all of these things! Gonna be a fun three years, as always.

I Want Black Panther to Win the Oscar for Best Picture
Black Panther was one of eight movies nominated for the Best Picture Oscar this morning, and some people out there across the internet don’t think it deserves the nomination. I’m here to ask them and you: so what? Can’t we all just rally around a superhero movie to win Best Picture, regardless of quality? The Oscars are largely a joke anyway. Why can’t we come together to get this superhero movie win?

I loved Black Panther when it came out, though I will admit that my praise has probably waned since. But it’s still a solid, enjoyable movie that had a major cultural impact.
And it’s the first superhero movie to be nominated for Best Picture. Can’t that be enough? We all love superhero movie. We all love Marvel Studios movies. And none of us really super care about the Oscars. Can we not all just come together and root for the superhero movie to get the win?
Cast aside your demands that the Oscar for Best Picture truly go to the best movie from 2018. Are any of the eight nominees really the best movie? Are any of the front runners really so worthy of the award that they have to win? Surely Black Panther is better than at least some of them. It’s better than Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody, surely.
And it’s not like the Oscars aren’t rigged or anything. It’s not like they’re some great noble event where only the purest and most worthy films are awarded. It’s all just a bunch of Academy idiots who don’t see all the movies voting on them anyway. The Oscars aren’t real.
So as comic book fans and superhero movie fans, let us set aside our lofty expectations for the purity of the Oscars and root for Black Panther to win big!
Though if I’m being honest, I’d probably go with BlacKkKlansmen to win Best Picture, and I haven’t seen Roma, A Star is Born or The Favourite yet. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse for Best Animated Feature for sure, but when it doesn’t win, then I’ll be vindicated in my claim that the Oscars aren’t real.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/8/18
Not only was this the week of my birthday, but it is such a comic book geekery week! I’m currently up to my eyeballs in hours playing the new Spider-Man video game, which is great. But I’m also watching the new season of Iron Fist, which ain’t half bad (so far)! And I’m on vacation from work! This has been a good week!
Not many comics came out this week that I wanted to read and review. Of the few, Comic Book of the Week goes to the new issue of Tom King’s Batman as he finally tackles Dick Grayson, who holds a special place in my heart.
If Tom King ever does a Tim Drake issue about his history as the best Robin, there’s a very good chance I might have to retire.
Ugh, new issues of both Avengers and Justice League also came out this week and I couldn’t bring myself to care. I wanted to cover both books, since they’re running simultaneously. But man, I can’t drum up any interest. Even when I’m on vacation and have nothing but time on my hands, I couldn’t find the interest to get caught up. Forgive me.
Comic Reviews: Asgardians of the Galaxy #1, Batman #54 and Captain America #3.
Let’s Celebrate Black Panther!
Black Panther came out on DVD last week and I’m going to have to pick up a copy, because I’d enjoy seeing that movie again. Since it came out on DVD, that means we’ve got the usual batch of funny Internet parody videos.
Like Honest Trailers.
Gotta love that Internet! And Black Panther! Go watch it again and maybe come up with your own wacky Internet comedy movie bit!
