Absolute Green Arrow and Catwoman are Coming!

Something called ComicsPRO was going on yesterday, where both Marvel and DC announced a bunch of upcoming comics. I’m rather lukewarm on Marvel these days, so I don’t really care what they had to offer. Whereas DC has announced and show artwork for two new Absolute comics! I love Absolute Comics! Well, most of them. Enough that I wanted to talk about these comics!

Absolute Green Arrow should be pretty awesome.

SPOILERS

So as we saw in that Absolute Evil one-shot, Oliver Queen was brutally murdered by Hawkman and the Justice League of bad guys. I thought that was a great twist! And now they’re building off of that with a horror-based Absolute Green Arrow series, which will also feature Black Canary.

The comic will be written by Pornsak Pichetshote, with artwork by Rafael Albuquerque.

Here’s the synopsis:

“Executive protection specialist Dinah Lance, also known as Absolute Black Canary, is assigned to uncover the murderer’s identity as she investigates a list of suspects drawn from the ranks of DC’s most dangerous archers. Each one is uniquely connected to a recently murdered Oliver Queen. A deadly mystery unfolds in this urban horror reimagining of the Emerald Archer’s mythos, brought to life by Eisner Award winners Pornsak Pichetshote and Rafael Albuquerque.”

All of that sounds great to me! I’m going to have high hopes for this one.

The next series is Absolute Catwoman, by Che Grayson, Scott Snyder and Bengal.

Catwoman was a pretty fun supporting character in Absolute Batman, but she definitely had a big life story that barely got touched. This series is apparently going to take a look at what Selina Kyle has been up to all this time.

Here’s the synopsis:

“Spinning out of Absolute Batman, Che Grayson, Scott Snyder, and Bengal delve deeper into the life of the Absolute Universe’s Catwoman. Through her ingenuity and skills, Selina Kyle has become the greatest thief the world has ever known. But when someone from her past comes knocking at her door, Selina’s life comes crashing down around her and she’ll need to get to the bottom of a mystery taking her all around the globe!”

Sounds good! Absolute Green Arrow will come along in April, and Absolute Catwoman will come along in June.

And then DC also announced that there will be a new Absolute Universe crossover event before the end of the year. No details on that yet, but I’m sure it will be fun. The recent Batman/Wonder Woman crossovers were amazing, and it was inevitable that bigger crossovers would happen. Hopefully the Absolute comics can maintain their quality level when they get a Big Event thrown at them.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/7/26

Tomorrow is the Super Bowl and I don’t care. I haven’t watched a Super Bowl in years…probably because I’m not invited to any Super Bowl parties. I should look into that and be more social. But instead, I’m just gonna read comics! Like a new Batman with major developments for my favorite Robin!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #16 for an absolutely stellar use of Hawkman. Also, whether you like it or not, I’m going to continue to use “absolutely” when describing anything in the Absolute Universe.

Just like the classic Ultimate Marvel days of new character reveals

Meanwhile, I’m finally catching up on Picard, which has been an OK watch so far. The Fallout season two finale was solid, but I think I agree with others that this season wasn’t as electrifying as the first. Perhaps the creators have simply settled into the idea that they’ll get multiple seasons to tell their story. I suppose that’s fine. And I’ve moved on to the DLC for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Money is a little tight at the moment and I won’t be splurging on any new video games anytime soon. Gonna have to stretch out this Avatar game as long as I can, then perhaps rely on some of Playstation’s free monthly games. Gotta save up for this fall, when we get Fable, Wolverine and Grand Theft Auto VI back-to-back.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #16 and Batman #6.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/10/26

It’s a new week. There are new comics. I’ve got a dentist appointment so I’m kinda rushing through this week. It’s only DC comics! Like Absolute Superman and Batman!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League for a wonderful final issue of this wonderful little mini-series.

Nicola Scott cooked with this one!

Meanwhile, I’m playing my way through Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora because it was on sale and I’m enjoying it very much. I like a big open world game. Haven’t seen the third movie yet, but I hope to catch a showing before it leaves theaters. I watched the second season of Fionna and Cake and loved that. And then I’ll need to find something else to watch.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #15, Batman #5, Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #6 and Absolute Batman: Ark M Special.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/3/26

Welcome to the world of tomorrow! It’s 2026 and we’re all struggling along. My town was hit with three snowstorms back-to-back-to-back in one week, so I’m having a doozy of a time. Thankfully I can work from home. And since there weren’t any major comic releases I was interested in this week, I’ve gone back to review all the major comics that came out the week of Christmas! That should be fun.

Comic Book of the Last Week goes to Absolute Wonder Woman #15 because the team-up between Wonder Woman and Batman was as good as we all hoped it would be.

Advanced chemistry, you say?

Meanwhile, I very much enjoyed the Stranger Things series finale. It got pretty wild and pretty big, but came together nicely in the end. Beyond that, I’m finally finishing off Squid Games. On the video game side of things, I’ve started Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora after getting it on sale. Should hopefully sustain me for a couple of months, because I enjoy a big Ubisoft open world.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #14, Absolute Martian Manhunter #7, Absolute Wonder Woman #15, Power Rangers Prime #13 and Void Rivals #25.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/13/25

You guys. This week. Apparently when I got new landlords, they may or may not have cancelled the driveway snowplow contract? Found that out the hard way. Ugh. Anyway, coupla fun comics this week.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Batman #15 for a very excellent and proper introduction to the Absolute Joker.

It’s also partly a jungle adventure story

Meanwhile, I’m about halfway through an anime my brother recommended, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. I don’t watch much anime, but have seen some from time to time. Pretty good so far. And then I’m still playing through Astrobot, because I’m in no rush when it comes to video games. I’m also finally reading Sex Criminals by Fraction and Zdarsky after I got the omnibus for Christmas last year. It’s also pretty good so far.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Batman #15 and Amazing Spider-Man #17.
