Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/30/26
Not a lot of reviews this week, I’m afraid. I got tied up with some things. Going away this weekend. Yadda yadda yadda. I just wanted to knock out this Absolute Wonder Woman review because it’s the final chapter of a really great story.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Wonder Woman #20 for a nice finish to the story. Not great, but still good.
Meanwhile, I’m still very much enjoying Crimson Desert. I’m trying to stretch this game out all summer if I can, so expect to hear about it in each of these meanwhiles…or maybe I should stop. We’ll see. I started up Spider-Noir the other night and it’s great so far! It’s a ton of fun! And I’m going away this weekend to finally see The Mandalorian and Grogu. I have high hopes.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Wonder Woman #20.

Big to medium week in comics this week, folks! Frankly, any week with a new Absolute Wonder Woman is a big week, but we’ve also got the new Spider-Man/Superman crossover from Marvel! The last crossover of this big celebration period!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Wonder Woman #19, though, for a pretty much perfect comic. This one is on fire as Absolute Batman.
Meanwhile, I still feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of Crimson Desert. I splurged on the game because I knew it was a big, open world RPG and that’s exactly what I’m getting! But it’s almost too big! I spend a lot of time seeking treasure and new outfits, while progressing story and side quests at a nice pace. Quality game; glad I bought it, hopefully it’ll sustain me all the way until Wolverine in September.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Wonder Woman #19, Captain America #9 and Spider-Man/Superman #1.

As of today, I’m on vacation! Got a week off from work to just relax and not experience the winter anymore. Should be nice. And we get to start out with a bunch of good comics, like Iron Man and Absolute Martian Manhunter.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Wonder Woman because that comic can do no wrong.
Meanwhile, I started playing Subnautica: Below Zero, because it was recently free on Playstation Plus. I’ve never played the original Subnautica, but free is free. I’m enjoying it, because I like these gathering/building/exploring games. I can throw on some YouTube on the side and just mosey around. Fun so far. All my anticipated games are coming out in the fall. I’ve also started watching the recent TV adaptation of The Rainmaker, which is my all-time favorite book, at least it was when I was a teenager getting into grown up books. I don’t have a lot of faith in this show, because I’m going to be too much of a stickler.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Martian Manhunter #9, Absolute Wonder Woman #17, Iron Man #2 and Void Rivals #27.

I was buried in snow again this week, so I worked from home one day and had a bunch of time to read more comics than usual. Sometimes I’ve been feeling that I review too few comics, or that I read too few. So I really wanted to expand my horizons this week! Like Vertigo! And Deadpool even!
True to form, however, Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Wonder Woman Annual, because it’s awesome.
Meanwhile, not much else going on, just getting through the second half of winter. Watched the latest season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and it was fun. And I’m onto the second DLC for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, so it’s all just moving along nicely in life. Such is everything.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Wonder Woman Annual #1, Cyclops #1, Void Rivals #26, Bleeding Hearts #1, D’Orc #1 and Wade Wilson: Deadpool #1.

Between my last reviews and this one, we had a snow storm and it sucked and my world is buried in snow these days in the northeast. I can handle the bitter, negative temperatures. It’s having to move all this snow that really stinks. But at least we’ve got enjoyable comics, like a new Iron Man and an absolutely stellar Absolute Wonder Woman.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Batman #16 for an insanely good crossover with Absolute Wonder Woman, though her solo issue gave this a run for its money in terms of quality.
Meanwhile, I binged and enjoyed Wonder Man this past week. Debating whether or not to do a review. I don’t know if I have much to say about the series, other than it’s good and I enjoyed it and everybody should watch. Beyond that, started watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and that’s fun. And I’m still taking my time through Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. So I’ve got good stuff going all around.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Batman #16, Absolute Wonder Woman #16, Iron Man #1, Absolute Martian Manhunter #8 and Power Rangers Prime #14.
