Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/9/26

What a banger week it’s been! Great TV shows have come to an end, great, uh, other things are probably happening somewhere, and we got some damn good comics to enjoy, like Absolute Superman and Daredevil.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #9 because it’s an exciting issue with good energy, nudging it just a little bit above the second issue of a so-far excellent Daredevil series.

More aura than The Rock

Meanwhile, I very much enjoyed the season finales of both Maul: Shadow Lord and Daredevil: Born Again. Great shows that were super fun to watch! I’m going to try to put together some List of Six thoughts/reviews for both over the coming week or so. We’ll see how that goes. Beyond that, I’m deep in the paint on Crimson Desert. It’s exactly my sort of open world game with lots of pedantic little things to do throughout the game world. Super fun! And I’m still deciding whether or not to see Mortal Kombat II in theaters. I really don’t have any interest…but it’s Mortal Kombat II…but it’s not that Street Fighter movie, which has me actively excited. I dunno. It should be in theaters for a while, so I’ve got time to decide.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #19, Batman #9 and Daredevil #2.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/4/26

I’m back with more comic book reviews! I missed last week because I was busy and sick, and I missed the Superman/Spider-Man team-up! The shame is immense. But thankfully we’ve got some real bangers this week, like some new Absolute Superman and a new Daredevil run!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Bizarro: Year None #1 for some truly fantastic artwork!

My world is square, so I must spit

Meanwhile, my pals at Very Big Comics have a Kickstarter running for the second volume of the Museum of the Uncanny anthology! These are great creators putting in the good work in the amateur comic trenches, just like me. I had a short story in the first volume! So if you’re a fan of my reviews, please head over and check out Museum of the Uncanny: The Lost Archives and consider backing the project and ordering a copy! Thank you so much!

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #18, Batman #8, Bizarro: Year None #1 and Daredevil #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/7/26

What a week, what a week! I was off from work this week and mostly spent my time lounging around not doing much of anything. Good times. I got caught up on a couple of comic series that I’d abandoned a while ago. So that was nice. And we’ve got review for those comics, like Absolute Flash and X-Men.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #7 for doing something new and potentially interesting with the Joker.

He’s got an eyeball thing going

Meanwhile, I hurt my thumb somehow so I couldn’t play anything video games with a thumb stick this week. Instead, I built some LEGO and started watching the final seasons of My Hero Academia. Let’s hope the show ends well. I also watched Strip Law on Netflix and it was good. I like watching these random adult animated shows on Netflix, and this one was particularly weird and wacky in all the ways I like.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Flash #12, Absolute Superman #17, Batman #7 and X-Men #26.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/7/26

Tomorrow is the Super Bowl and I don’t care. I haven’t watched a Super Bowl in years…probably because I’m not invited to any Super Bowl parties. I should look into that and be more social. But instead, I’m just gonna read comics! Like a new Batman with major developments for my favorite Robin!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #16 for an absolutely stellar use of Hawkman. Also, whether you like it or not, I’m going to continue to use “absolutely” when describing anything in the Absolute Universe.

Just like the classic Ultimate Marvel days of new character reveals

Meanwhile, I’m finally catching up on Picard, which has been an OK watch so far. The Fallout season two finale was solid, but I think I agree with others that this season wasn’t as electrifying as the first. Perhaps the creators have simply settled into the idea that they’ll get multiple seasons to tell their story. I suppose that’s fine. And I’ve moved on to the DLC for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Money is a little tight at the moment and I won’t be splurging on any new video games anytime soon. Gonna have to stretch out this Avatar game as long as I can, then perhaps rely on some of Playstation’s free monthly games. Gotta save up for this fall, when we get Fable, Wolverine and Grand Theft Auto VI back-to-back.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #16 and Batman #6.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/10/26

It’s a new week. There are new comics. I’ve got a dentist appointment so I’m kinda rushing through this week. It’s only DC comics! Like Absolute Superman and Batman!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League for a wonderful final issue of this wonderful little mini-series.

Nicola Scott cooked with this one!

Meanwhile, I’m playing my way through Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora because it was on sale and I’m enjoying it very much. I like a big open world game. Haven’t seen the third movie yet, but I hope to catch a showing before it leaves theaters. I watched the second season of Fionna and Cake and loved that. And then I’ll need to find something else to watch.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #15, Batman #5, Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #6 and Absolute Batman: Ark M Special.
