My 6 Most Anticipated Movies of 2016
A new year is here, and with it comes a new spattering of pop culture to love and hopefully enjoy! All my favorite TV shows are coming back eventually (most of them this month!). And comics are looking as exciting as ever. Not too many video games on my list this year, but we’ll see how things turn out.
Mostly though, I’m looking forward to movies! This is gonna be a great year!
As we all know, we’re smack dab in the middle (or the beginning) of the next superhero movie insanity roller coaster. We know that 2017 is going to be insane with movies. But this year is boasting some solid entries as well. So to ease us into 2016, I wanted to run down the six movies I’m most looking forward to this year. Hopefully they live up to my excitement.
What If the Star Wars Prequels Were Good?
Some of you have probably seen these videos before, but I’ve been wanting to share them, because they’re a lot of fun. Basically, a rather creative chap named Michael at Belated Media has re-imagined the Star Wars prequels into a better, more entertaining movie trilogy. He keeps the same characters, general plot and themes, but does a much better job with the storytelling. He’s backed up by some great artwork by Jackie Whisler.
These are just one guy’s ideas, but creativity respects creativity.
I especially like what he has planned for Uncle Owen and Darth Maul. That’s some good thinking right there.

How Do We Make This Action Figure a Reality?
For awhile now, comic books have been featuring these action figure-style variant covers. I don’t buy variant covers, so for the most part, I just looked at these and smiled, waxing nostalgic, as is their purpose. Until today. The action figure variant for the new Deadpool spin-off comic, Mercs for Money, was unveiled and I absolutely must own this Stingray action figure.
You do not understand the lengths I would go to to own such a sweet Stingray action figure. The new costume looks amazing, and I don’t even care that he’s Deadpool-themed. Whatever! Stingray is getting more exposure! If the greater world reads even one of my blog posts this year, let it be this one, and Marvel make this action figure!
Granted, they’ve yet to listen to my pleas about a Multiple Man action figure, but whatever. A guy can dream.

A Short Film About a Girl Who Loves Hockey
It’s genius in its simplicity. A certain Internet mastermind, Jordan Hanzon, has edited the Pixar movie Inside Out to remove all the ‘inside’ parts that deal with Riley’s emotions. What’s left is a touching story about a girl struggling with moving to a new town. It’s just plain neat.
It’s such a simple but brilliant idea. I’m glad someone thought of it, though I wish it were me. I need to become Internet famous in 2016…

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/2/16
Speaking of dropping the ball…turns out I was too busy partying and playing video games to read too many comics in the new year. I had some vague plans about getting caught up on Black Canary or Batman and Robin Eternal so that this week’s reviews would pack a little bit of a punch, at least. But I’m apparently going to start 2016 with a whimper! Woot! I did manage to read and review the newest issue of All-New Wolverine, though, so I think that wins Comic Book of the Week by default!
It’s OK, though. There weren’t many comics out this week anyway. Don’t worry, starting next week, the world goes back to normal.
Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #3.
