6 Things I Want to See in a Multiple Man Movie

I can’t believe this is happening, but it looks like FOX wants to make a Multiple Man movie starring James Franco! It’s unbelievable! Multiple Man is my all-time favorite comic book character. I thought I was beyond lucky to even get a cameo in X-Men: The Last Stand. But a full-on starring role in his own movie? With a star like Franco? Pinch me, I must be geeky dreaming!

Madrox Movie 01

Disney better not ruin this by buying Fox Studios

I was first introduced to Jamie Madrox: The Multiple Man in the early 1990s when he had a solid role in writer Peter David’s X-Factor revival. He had a cool costume, including trench coat, cool powers and, most importantly, a sense of humor that I really connected with. He was part prankster and part dryly sarcastic, which was right up my alley. Then when David relaunched Madrox in 2004 as a private eye, he was even better! The character had a true Golden Age for several glorious comic book loving years. He’s the perfect choice for a solo X-Men movie and I am very, very excited about the possibility of this Multiple Man movie getting made.

Join me after the jump for some ideas and suggestions for the Multiple Man movie!

I Want Elsa to Be Gay in Frozen 2

Disney is currently hard at work on Frozen 2, the follow-up to their most popular cartoon of the decade. By all accounts, Frozen 2 is probably going to be a nuclear bomb of popularity with kids of all ages.

So here’s the thing: I want Frozen 2 to be a love story where Queen Elsa falls in love with another woman. I want to live in a world where that happens.

Think about it

If you haven’t suffered through it yet, there’s a 20-minute Frozen cartoon that plays before Pixar’s new Coco film. The cartoon is insufferable, like some sort of mental torture. Coco is great, but this cartoon — Olaf’s Frozen Adventure — is the sort of low budget, cash grab, pure treacle, Christmas special garbage that they’d throw on ABC Family. And the fact that you have to suffer through it before getting to see Coco should be qualified as a crime against humanity.

But while I sat there watching the cartoon in pained silence, I got to thinking about the Frozen universe and the upcoming sequel. I don’t think we have any story details quite yet, but it’s probably a solid bet that Queen Elsa might get a romance in the new film. Her sister, Princess Anna, had a love story in the first one, and Disney loves a good love story.

And I think Elsa should get a girlfriend.

Celebrate it!

Now, I’m not the first or only person to suggest Elsa should be a lesbian — or really anywhere on the LGBT spectrum. This isn’t some bold new suggestion I’m making. This is just a thought I had recently and feel strongly about, and that’s pretty much the single hurdle something must clear to be worth a post on my blog.

I want to live in a  world where Elsa can be gay.

I want to live in a world where Disney, the most powerful entertainment company in the world, working on their most anticipated movie in decades, takes a stand and makes same-sex relationships totally normal. I want them to look square in the eyes of everybody out there who would decry such a move and tell them to get over it. I want Disney to willfully and gladly suffer whatever financial pitfall might happen.

Frozen 2 could be just the cash grab sequel we all expect it to be. Or it could be one of the most important films of the 21st century. Disney has that kind of clout. I want to see them use it.

Plus it would be super cute for Elsa, which is also important.

Strong Guy is Gonna Be a New Mutant!

For reasons that boggle my mind, the title ‘New Mutants’ remains a frequent flyer in the X-Men franchise. It’s a weird name, right? Even when it was first used, to introduce a new, younger team of X-Men, it was still weird. Like, the X-Men knew a lot of other mutants by the time the New Mutants were introduced. Those kids weren’t even the first team of new mutants to join the X-Men.

But whatever. The title keeps getting used for new X-Men comics, and the next one is gonna feature Strong Guy!

I’m telling you all of this because I’m still engaged in the Strong Guy Watch. I’m pretty sure the rule of having Strong Guy randomly appear in the background of X-Men stories has passed, but I loved the character, so I’m calling him out!

The mini-series will be written by Matthew Rosenberg, with art by Adam Gorham. It’s also going to reunite Strong Guy with Wolfsbane, two parts of my favorite comic book friendship trio. I hope Rosenberg does something fun with that.

Yay Strong Guy! Though I’m disappointed that he lost the beard.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/2/17

Bad news, everybody! Or, well, good news for me! I’ll be on vacation this upcoming week, making my first trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida! Should be a blast! But I’ll be gone all week and won’t have time to pick up or read any comic books. So for only the second time since I started doing these weekly reviews, I’m gonna have to skip a week. Sorry!

And this week is such an odd one, since it’s a Fifth Wednesday and there aren’t many comics out — at least not many comics that I’m reading. A nice Batman Annual from Tom King easily wins Comic Book of the Week, but it’s only competition (at least on my read pile) was a Darkhawk one-shot. I had a lot of hopes for that single issue, but King’s Batman can’t be beat.

True love

Not much else in comic book news on my end. No Big Events this week. But boy howdy, how about that Avengers: Infinity War trailer? More of that, please!

Comic Reviews: Batman Annual #2 and Darkhawk #51.

First Look at Live Action Robin!

Check out this awesome bit of costuming! We got the great news a couple weeks ago that actor Brenton Thwaites would play Robin in the upcoming live action Teen Titans show, and now here’s proof!

That costume looks amazing! I got this pic from DC. The idea that Robin’s colorful costume can totally work in the dark world of Batman is a hill I’m willing to die on. Let’s hope the show actually gets made and the Robin character is awesome — unlike Robin in Teen Titans Go!

This is probably the only live action Robin I’m going to get for a very long time, so I’ve got my hopes up.
