Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/6/26
Welcome back to comic book review land! Just little old me reading comics and cranking out reviews because it’s what I like to do. I like reading and talking about good comics, like Batman and Amazing Spider-Man.
Comic Book of the Week goes to The Deadman #1 for a solid, entertaining start to this potentially wild new series.
Meanwhile, I really enjoyed Spider-Noir. It was a nifty series that accomplished everything it set out to do, I would say! And I made it to the theater to see The Masters of the Universe this week and I had a blast! Very fun film. Still haven’t seen The Mandalorian and Grogu, so fingers crossed my plans work this weekend. Oh! I did see The Sheep Detectives and that was also fun. Good, quality little flick. Seeing lots of movies, it seems.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/23/26
Happy Memorial Day Weekend to everybody in America! I’m traveling to visit family this weekend and it should be a good time. But before I left, I got in some good comic reading, like Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and even Wolverine!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Green Arrow #1 for another excellent launch of a new Absolute Comic!
Meanwhile, I’m still deep into Crimson Desert and how to extend that game through the whole summer! The dev team keeps coming out with weekly patches that add a whole bunch of free content, and now I’m a little afraid of beating the game and missing out on what they come up with next! So I’m in for the long haul. Beyond that, I highly recommend the TV shows Rooster and The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins; both really fun shows! Haven’t seen The Mandalorian and Grogu yet because I’m getting together with some old pals to check it out next weekend. Should be fun.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/25/26
Big to medium week in comics this week, folks! Frankly, any week with a new Absolute Wonder Woman is a big week, but we’ve also got the new Spider-Man/Superman crossover from Marvel! The last crossover of this big celebration period!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Wonder Woman #19, though, for a pretty much perfect comic. This one is on fire as Absolute Batman.
Meanwhile, I still feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of Crimson Desert. I splurged on the game because I knew it was a big, open world RPG and that’s exactly what I’m getting! But it’s almost too big! I spend a lot of time seeking treasure and new outfits, while progressing story and side quests at a nice pace. Quality game; glad I bought it, hopefully it’ll sustain me all the way until Wolverine in September.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrived this morning and it is chockful of characters. Can you spot them all? A lot of them were spoiled due to leaks, but their arrival is still fun. See for yourself!
It’s an OK trailer. It’s a little all over the place. I’ve never personally been a fan of the spider-mutation stuff, but it’s still classic Spider-Man, so there’s no point in fighting it. I love me some Scorpion, so I’m glad he’s here. And the other villains I’ve heard about should be a hoot! Then Punisher! Bruce Banner! The…the Hand?!
I like the grounded nature of the story so far, though it does butt up against the weird choice at the end of the previous movie where Peter Parker uses a magic spell to make everybody forget he exists. Part of me hoped he’d actually move on and make new friends, but perhaps he can try his luck chasing after his old friends. By all means.
Looks good.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will arrive in theaters on July 31.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/21/26
My relationship with comics is so weird these days. I’m loving pretty much everything DC is putting out, I’m very very lukewarm on anything Marvel is attempting, and I’ve all but given up on the Energon Universe. I’ve got a vacation coming up, and I think I’m gonna try to get caught up on all the comics I’ve let fall to the wayside so that I have more review options. Anyway, here’s Captain America and the Ultimate Spider-Man finale.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Batman #17, which delivers another absolute banger as it introduces Absolute Poison Ivy.
Meanwhile, I finally finished Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. It was a solid, enjoyable RPG that wasn’t as deep as I might have preferred, but it was a fun play. Now I’m on the search for my next game to play, and I don’t want to spend much money…I’m also rewatching all of Star Trek: Lower Decks to finish my recent Trek binge. The show absolutely and wonderfully holds up. I hope to see these characters again someday.
