The Many Looks of Robocop
Your favorite and mine, the Tell It Animated guy, returns with a new Robocop episode! Turns out, everybody’s favorite law enforcement cyborg has had a couple of different looks over the years.
Does anybody else remember that Robocop animated show from 1998-1999? It was called Robocop: Alpha Commando. It’s the one in the video with the really tall shoulders. I watched that show! It was about Robocop in the future and it was…honestly, I don’t know how it was. I have no memory of the episodes or the storylines or the style. I know there was a female cop partner, but that’s about it. Wild, man, wild!

Top 6 New Things I’m Excited About from Disney’s Investor Summit
Last Thursday night was a crazy night! Disney held their annual investor summit and, since there were no comic-cons this year, they basically announced EVERYTHING they had coming up for Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel. As everyone here well knows, I love all of those things! So last Thursday was like Christmas come early.
I didn’t have the time or energy to write individual blog posts for every single awesome thing to come out of the summit. I shared a bunch of the trailers, which are the best part! Now this list is about some of the other bits and pieces I enjoyed! A ton of new content was announced and I want to share my favorite bits. We already knew about a lot of things, like Tatiana Maslany cast as She-Hulk and the Ms. Marvel show. We also knew the Fantastic Four movie was coming. So this list is about new things we learned at the summit, the things I am, personally, most excited about! Big and small!
So join me after the jump for some truly great upcoming geekery!

So there’s going to be a new movie called Nobody starring Bob Odenkirk next year. The trailer is…well…you might as well just watch it for yourself and consider what’s happening.
Nobody is clearly some kind of new version of Taken or a million other of these same movies. Normal person gets put into some type of conflict and they reveal they are a super fighter/badass. And Nobody doesn’t seem to have any additional twists. Liam Neeson in Taken was supposed to seem like a normal dad guy before he went all super soldier, so that’s not a new plot with Nobody.
And Bob Odenkirk…sure, he’s killing it in Better Call Saul these days, but the man is a born comedian. And I just can’t watch that trailer and see his performance and think he’s not having fun with it, even if only in his head. There’s no way Odenkirk takes this material as seriously as the movie does.
At least that’s what I’m seeing. Nobody comes out on February 26.

Wonder Woman 1984 is Right Around the Corner!
So Warner Bros. recently made the very bold decision that all of their major 2021 movies are going to release simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. The first up is Wonder Woman 1984, which is coming out on Christmas Day. I can’t wait!
Personally, I’m kind of excited about this HBO Max thing. For one, it means I’ll get to see movies again, because I doubt theaters in my area will get to open anytime soon. For another…I dunno! I’m excited to see how it changes the upcoming movie landscape? I’m excited to see how it changes the world? I guess we’ll find out!
Meanwhile, early social media reactions to Wonder Woman 1984 have been very positive…but then those are usually overwhelmingly positive. But we have no reason to doubt them. The first Wonder Woman movie was good, and surely the filmmakers have grown and learned since then.

Some People May Be Looking Forward to the Snyder Cut
I am not one of those people. I liked Justice League well enough when I saw it in theaters, but I haven’t seen it since. And I like a lot of director Zack Snyder’s earlier work, like 300 and Watchmen. Heck, I also really like Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah!
But man, this new-ish trailer for the #SnyderCut is atrocious.
First of all, it’s almost exactly like the original trailer that was put up a couple weeks ago. That got taken down for a copyright strike on the song…so they just re-upload the trailer again with the same song and a couple of seconds of new footage? Second of all, it’s in black and white?! The actual #SnyderCut will not be in black and white. Which means this is an entirely “artistic” choice for this trailer. Jeez louise.
Third of all, did you hear that Wonder Woman 1984 is going to debut both in theaters and on HBO Max on Christmas Day? Bold strategy! Looks like I’ll get to see it after all!
