Movie Review: Ghostbusters
I ain’t afraid of no classic movie remake starring an all-female cast! Despite the legions of angry Internet trolls crying out against this movie, I have had zero qualms about seeing the new Ghostbusters and taking it at face value. I was a huge fan of both original movies, and an even bigger fan of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series (and toys!), but I wasn’t someone chomping at the bit for a Ghostbusters 3 or anything of the like.
Still, someone went and made this new movie, I was happy to go see it, and I really enjoyed myself.
Movie Rating: 8/10 – Very Good.
The new Ghostbusters is a fun and quite funny movie. A lot of the jokes are pretty great, though there are always some duds. The main characters are all outstanding, with a great camaraderie and team style. Once the action starts to kick in, I think the movie goes a little bit too far off the rails for my tastes, but it’s still overall enjoyable. I’ve got some individual nitpicks here and there, but I’ll get to them later.
The main thing to know about the new Ghostbusters is that it trades in the original film’s down-to-Earth realism for a more cartoony, action-focused style. Not to say it’s a cartoon come to life, but this movie can get pretty silly. Personally, the realism is what makes the original Ghostbusters such a classic, on a number of different levels. So I was a little disappointed that this new movie went for the cray cray vibe. But it worked in its own way, and that’s good enough.
Also, I may get tarred and feathered for saying this, but Bill Murray was the worst part of this movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is Definitely Happening!
Check out this new promo art released today from Guardians of the Galaxy 2! Looks like everybody is coming back, and they’ve even added Mantis to the mix!
Star-Lord got himself some fancy cumbersome armor
Looks like a solid, fun cast to me! We’re all super excited about this movie, right? It’s gonna be the bomb diggity and the bee’s knees all at once! And tiny Groot looks adorable.

Ghostbusters Review is on the Way!
I saw the new Ghosbusters movie last night and really enjoyed it. I’ll have a review up later today, but until then, enjoy this Honest Trailer of Ghostbusters 2.
For the record, I enjoyed Ghostbusters 2 when I was a kid. Nothing wrong with that movie.

6 Pop Culture Characters I Love For No Particular Reason
I think this blog is testament to the fact that I am a pop culture aficionado. I love movies, TV shows, books, comics, video games and all manner of storytelling and fiction. I hope to be a fiction writer myself some day, and am even working on my own comic book. And like all good people of this Earth, I have my favorite characters in my favorite media.
But sometimes, those favorites don’t make much sense.
Go, Green Ranger, go go!
Leonardo is my favorite Ninja Turtle because of his noble spirit and badass katana blades. The Green Ranger is my favorite Power Ranger because he was this cool, rebellious sixth Ranger. Multiple Man is my favorite superhero because I like his sense of humor, and because he was one of the characters who helped usher young Sean into a better understanding of superhero comics. I love Robin the Boy Wonder because I’ve always considered myself more of a sidekick than a leader, especially when compared to some of my more alpha male friends back in my youth.
But there are some characters out there whom I love passionately, but have no legitimate reason why. Join me after the jump to find out who!
Big Hero Six is Still Mostly Cool
Honestly though, I mostly still like it.
Of the recent Disney animated movies, Big Hero Six is not my favorite. But it’s still good, and I can definitely get behind the team-up of Marvel and Disney making movies together. I still wanted an animated Silver Surfer film like this. It would be beyond epic. At least the Screen Junkies are here to tease the movies that do exist.
