6 Thoughts on Justice League

Just in time for DC to stop caring about a connected cinematic universe comes Justice League, the big screen gathering of some of DC Comics’ greatest superheroes! Coming after the great Wonder Woman solo film and the horrendous Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice team film, Justice League appears to be an attempt to course correct and just make a nice movie for once. I think they succeeded!

Movie Rating: 6/10 – Pretty Good

I liked Justice League better than I expected to. I went in with very low expectations, but had to remind myself in the theater to stop looking for things to dislike and to just sit back and enjoy the film. I’m glad I did.

I don’t know everything about the jumbled creation of this Justice League film, but it’s worth noting that director Zack Snyder had to back out during post-produciton due to a family crisis, and Joss Whedon stepped in to fix it up. I’m still a big Whedon fan, so that was solid news. But there’s also the fact that there were extensive reshoots, a lot of reports of recalibrating the film to be more likable, and the fact that it was originally pitched as a two-parter, but has since been pared down to just the one film. That’s a pretty rocky road to the cinema.

But I’m not one to hold any of that against a film! Join me after the jump for my list-based review of the Justice League movie! Expect FULL SPOILERS! And I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

The Rock is Gonna be in Another Action Movie

The Rock just keeps piling on these action movies. Next up is Rampage, based on the classic video game. It looks pretty OK.

I’m sure I played Rampage at least once or twice back in the day, but I can’t imagine too many people have some huge love for the game. This is just another attempt by Hollywood to co-opt a familiar name brand and hope the Rock boosts ticket sales. Maybe he will! But hey, more power to the movie. Maybe it’ll be good.

Incredibles 2 Is On The Way!

My favorite Pixar movie is The Incredibles, for reasons that should be obvious if you’re reading my blog. So of course I was excited to see the first teaser trailer for Incredibles 2! Which is definitely happening!

And if that wasn’t enough Incredibles for you to love, how about the How Incredibles Should Have Ended video? At least these parody videos are still pure and unburdened by controversy and horribleness!

This one was kind of garbage though. Quality initial joke, for how the movie should have ended. But then it falls back on some Batman/Superman cafe thing with Elastigirl that I just don’t get or remember. I dunno. I’m probably in the minority here, but I just don’t think cutting to these Batman/Superman cafe scenes are as funny or witty as the creators think. Especially when it’s implied that, like, Superman slept with Mr. Incredibles’ wife? That’s just disrespectful.

Apparently James Franco is Going to Make a Multiple Man Movie

I’m not sure where this is suddenly coming from, but I guess James Franco is going to make a Multiple Man movie?! This is according to an article from Deadline Hollywood today. Seems kind of insanely random, but as a huge Multiple Man fan, I’ll take it!

39th Annual Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards - Arrivals

On the one hand, Fox Studios has been making some incredible Deadpool movies. On the other hand, their Gambit film has been stuck in development hell for years at this point. So I don’t know if I should be getting my hopes up or if I should just accept all of this with a grain of salt and an open mind.

I am totally cool with James Franco starring as Jamie Madrox. I’m terrible at casting, so I don’t have any actors I’d prefer. At least with Franco, you know you’re going to get something interesting and worthwhile. So this could be pretty neat!

I’ll forgive a lot as long as it means we get an actual Multiple Man movie.

And I would totally be down with Seth Rogen as Strong Guy!

Deadpool 2 is Gonna Bring the Funny!

The first Deadpool movie was hilarious. And the first teaser for the Deadpool sequel is just as hilarious! This is good teaser trailer.

I don’t know why I can’t really stand comic book Deadpool, but absolutely love the humor of live action Deadpool. It’s a mystery for the ages!
