How About a Great Movie Trailer: Deadpool 2
I was ragging on The Lost Park: Jurassic World earlier today for delivering a crappy trailer that gives away a lot of the plot. Well the final trailer for Deadpool 2 has arrived, and it also gives away a lot of the plot — but it is an amazing and hilarious trailer! Be sure to stay all the way until the end.
For my money, I think that whole bit with Peter at the end, from introduction to badass skydiving, might be the greatest joke in all of the Deadpool movies so far. Bring on this movie!

My 6 Favorite Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Moments (So Far)
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is one of my all-time favorite comic books. It is, hands down, the funniest comic I have ever read. I’m working to buy all of the trade paperbacks so that I have the whole collection on my graphic novel shelf for future reading! Writer Ryan North and artist Erica Henderson, along with their colorist, letterer and the rest, are a crack creative team! And to honor Henderson bowing out of the series, I wanted to get together my favorite moments and jokes so far!
Funny story. I met Erica Henderson once at Boston Comic-Con about two years ago. She was at her booth and I was on the prowl for a guest cover artist for the Gamer Girl & Vixen graphic novel. In my foolish bravery, I asked her if she did that sort of thing on commission. She looked at me like I was trying to sell her on a pyramid scheme and politely suggested I use the convention to find some local talent. I felt quite silly. She was so right.
Here’s hoping she has even more great success on her next projects! Join me after the jump for my favorite bits from Unbeatable Squirrel Girl!
And yes, I realize that my taking the time to explain the jokes kind of ruins them…so perhaps just read the comic pages I post and that will suffice!
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/14/18
This is a very interesting week for comics! Marvel kicks off two new titles — Exiles and Domino — and follows those up with possibly the best issue of Unbeatable Squirrel Girl to date. At least one of those new comics might become a regular purchase for me, and Squirrel Girl will hopefully be around until the end of time.
Comic Book of the Week easily goes to Unbeatable Squirrel Girl for a single issue story of friendship, heroics, weird time malfunctions and more heart than ten comics!
In other news, I’m really enjoyable Gwenpool so far. I’ve got to order the last couple of trade paperbacks to finish it off. Gwenpool, the comic, is definitely far more than it would seem on the surface.

6 Characters The Rock Could Play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Dwayne Johnson is an international treasure. Does there exist a more charismatic and enjoyable human being on the planet? Who also has good moral values and a such a big heart? That The Rock has taken over Hollywood is just about the most delightful thing that could happen to Hollywood. And you best believe I’m going to see his new movie Rampage this weekend!
So where could Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson fit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Why not bring together the two best things in Hollywood? Marvel and The Rock! Yes, he’s apparently going to play Black Adam for DC Comics, but it’s not like that movie is in production or anything. And it’s not like he’s going to show up as the villain in the Shazam movie, which is in production. DC is clearly wasting whatever contract they currently have with The Rock! He should jump ship and make a real explosive entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
But who could he play? Which Marvel heroes or villains are bold enough for The Rock? Join me after the jump for some of my ideas!
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/7/18
We’ve got something of a light week this week, though a lot of nice comics came out. I think I need to start picking up some new titles after so many of my favorites got cancelled. I’m thinking of trying out the new Iron Man and Fantastic Four when they arrive, along with the big Justice League and Avengers relaunches in the coming months. Anybody have any comics they’d like to see me take on? Let me know in the comments!
Comic Book of the Week goes to the first half of Runaways. It’s as darling as I could have hoped for. But then it just ruins itself! For my money, I would definitely prefer a guest appearance by Julie Power over Doctor Doom in any comic book.
In comics I’m reading but not reviewing, another delightful issue of Rogue & Gambit hit the stands and it’s just as much fun as the rest. I can’t wait to see what writer Kelly Thompson does next for Marvel.
Also, I’ve dropped Marvel Two-in-One now that we know Fantastic Four is coming back. It’s an OK issue. Better than the previous issue, but I’ve decided to drop the series rather than continue to nitpick it to death.
