Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/14/20
It has been a week since America decided to elect a new President and it’s been a pleasant week at that. I splurged on some new LEGO to celebrate. I bought the new Spider-Man video game. And I read some good to OK comics, like Iron Man and a bunch more X of Swords.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Power Rangers #1 because, just like last week’s Mighty Morphin, the new era of Power Rangers comics at BOOM! is just as much fun as its always been!
Meanwhile, as I mentioned earlier, I picked up Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the Playstation 4 and it’s great! It’s another fun dose of the already beloved Spider-Man PS4 gameplay, only now its Miles Morales-flavored. And the writers and developers went out of their way to find ways to make that special. Miles swings differently than Peter. He fights differently. And he lives differently. It’s great!
Comic Reviews: The Green Lantern: Season Two #9, Iron Man #3, Power Rangers #1, Marauders #15, Excalibur #14 and Wolverine #7.

Hooray America! At long last, the people of the United States of America came together to oust Donald J. Trump from the White House! Granted, it was a tight race and a good 70 million+ Americans still voted for that national embarrassment to remain in power, but the only thing that matters in the end is the win for Joe Biden.
So let’s celebrate by recognizing a bunch of fun USA-themed comic book characters!
Obviously Captain America is the #1 choice for such a list, but everybody already knows about him. Let’s dig deeper and find some of the more obscure and yet still 100% real America-themed comic book characters! There are a lot more than you’d think. And I’m not just talking about U.S.Agent or Iron Patriot either. Oh no, we’re digging deep for this list and it’s going to be a raucous good time!
Join me after the jump for six United States of America-themed superheroes as we celebrate a Trump-less country.

Welcome to a brave new world! Or at least that’s what I would be saying if this stupid presidential election would just end already! We know who’s gonna win! And I don’t want to have to keep knocking on wood every time I talk about it! Sheesh!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin #1, the kick off of the next stage of Power Rangers comics. That new Green Ranger looks damn cool!
Meanwhile, I’m working my way through the last few seasons of Archer. They’re fine, but the show isn’t as good as the original seasons. And I’m finally going to get to see Tenet! It’s playing in one of the few movie theaters that’s open in my area this afternoon. I already bought my ticket. Here’s hoping I don’t die!
Comic Reviews: Batman #102, Mighty Morphin #1, Thor #9, U.S.Agent #1, X-Men #14 and Marauders #14.

Happy Halloween! What a nice coincidence that the holiday falls on the day I’m reviewing comics. Of course, I’m not reviewing any spooky comics, so the point is moot. But X of Swords keeps getting worse, so that’s something.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Runaways #32 because it’s so nice to have this comic back! And it’s a pretty cute issue.
Meanwhile, I read through The Last Ronin, the futuristic Ninja Turtles story, and it was fun. I’ve been collecting the large, hardcover volumes of the IDWI TMNT series but I haven’t started reading them yet. I think I just like collecting them. So I’m not fully up on my Turtles comic lore. But this first issue is cool…though a bit sparse, in my opinion. This might be better read in the trade.
Also, first new episode of The Mandalorian was great!
Comic Reviews: Drakkon: New Dawn #4, Legion of Super-Heroes #10, Runaways #32, Shang-Chi #2, Strange Academy #4 and X of Swords: Stasis #1.

Thankfully, because some good things did happen this year, we got a renewal notice for a third season of Harley Quinn. I love this cartoon. I thought both the first and second seasons were amazing and wonderful and everything I could possibly want from a DC animated adventure. So I’m tickled pink that we’ll be getting a third season.
But what’s the third season going to contain? Harley Quinn is a show with very firm changes to the status quo. Characters are killed, Batman is horribly injured, romance is real; one of the main things I want is for these status quo changes to remain. There are real stakes in Harley Quinn and that is half the fun. But I’m a big comic book fan, and there are still things I hope to see in the third season!
Join me after the jump for my ideas for season 3. And expect FULL SPOILERS for the first two seasons. Harley Quinn is available to stream on HBO Max and I highly, highly recommend it!
