Strong Guy Watch: Let’s Tease X-Men ’97 Even More!
This weekend, we got another trailer for the upcoming second season of X-Men ’97. And it’s not so much a trailer as it is a who’s who of X-Characters who are going to appear this season! And we already knew this was happening, but how cool is it that both Strong Guy and Multiple Man get mentions?!
I can’t wait. The first season was one of the best TV shows of the past few years, and all the trailers for season 2 so far look amazing. It’s just so exciting that my favorite superhero, Multiple Man, gets to exist in an adaptation in the first place and not be a villain. And then he gets to exist in one of his greatest forms, the 1990s X-Factor form. That’s when I fell in love with the character, in large part due to that awesome trench coat costume! And then Strong Guy too!
The only shame is that we haven’t seen Iceman yet. You can’t imagine how cool it was for me as a kid to have both Iceman and Multiple Man in the same episode of the original series!
Season 2 of X-Men ’97 is coming to Disney+ on July 1.

Check Out The Little Piratemaid!
Got some time on your hands? Check out this little animated short by artist Luke Beatrice. Luke is a frequent comic book collaborator of mine. He’s done some Gamer Girl & Vixen shorts and he’s the lead artist on my as-of-yet-unrevealed comic Cover Bard! I promise to have more Cover Bard news before too long. The first issue is complete, fully drawn and colored by Luke, with lettering done as well. But we’ll get to that later.
For now, Luke has posted his animated short — The Little Piratemaid — on YouTube for the whole world to enjoy. And I’m bringing that joy to you for Pride Month! You may have to click through to watch on YouTube.
Solid work all around! Love the voice acting. The story is short and sweet. The character designs are great. And the animation is stellar for a dude doing it all on his own. Believe me, if I had a ton of money, I’d be hiring Luke to make Gamer Girl & Vixen animated shorts! All my money would go to that!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the short! Luke has an online shop and does art commissions, so I assume it’s cool to reach out to him.

It’s Not Gonna Get More Epic than This Trailer for Season 2 of X-Men ’97
I loved the first season of X-Men ’97! Holy cow that was an amazing show! And we got word this week that they’re already working on season four, so we should have plenty to love for a long time. But first, we gotta dive into season two, which looks suitably epic.
Jeez louise, people! What an epic trailer! The music, the grandeur, the glimpses of X-Men and mutants and characters and time periods of just so much everything else! So much to love! So much to get exited about!
We already know the season will feature more Multiple Man and Strong Guy, so that makes me personally happy. But we haven’t seen hide nor hair of Iceman. That’s a bummer. Anyway, can’t wait to see what happens!
X-Men ’97 will return to Disney+ on July 1.

I Don’t Think Toy Story 5 is Just About Technology
Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe the movie will surprise people. But it feels a little…rote to just have the toys do battle against a tablet. I’m probably wrong. But this trailer definitely seems bigger than just the toys fighting this green Lilypad tablet toy thing.
I don’t know how I feel about Toy Story 5 overall. Personally, these movies aren’t sacred to me. I’ve enjoyed each and every Toy Story movie, including 4, so I’ll probably watch and enjoy this one. I may not go to the theater to see it. I can be patient when I want. And this trailer isn’t exactly blowing the doors off or anything. I just think there’s something more…
Probably a story about Jessie and finding purpose or something. These movies are always about finding purpose.
Toy Story 5 comes to theaters on June 19…which is less than a month away!

We’re Definitely Getting More Live Action Avatar: The Last Airbender
I did not watch that leak of the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender movie. I’m no enemy of piracy, but I’m also not so indulgent as to engage with something like that. I’ll wait until it comes out in theaters. That’s fine by me. But in other Avatar news, there’s a new trailer for the second season of the live action show on Netflix!
Not a well-made trailer, but it works. I think I was very lukewarm on the first season. It was fine. Nothing spectacular. Nothing to justify its existence in live action. But I’m not going to begrudge Netflix making more. Let the people work! Let the franchise continue in whatever form is deemed appropriate. We can have mediocre things!
Season two arrives on Netflix on June 25, so in about a month.
