It’s Not Gonna Get More Epic than This Trailer for Season 2 of X-Men ’97
I loved the first season of X-Men ’97! Holy cow that was an amazing show! And we got word this week that they’re already working on season four, so we should have plenty to love for a long time. But first, we gotta dive into season two, which looks suitably epic.
Jeez louise, people! What an epic trailer! The music, the grandeur, the glimpses of X-Men and mutants and characters and time periods of just so much everything else! So much to love! So much to get exited about!
We already know the season will feature more Multiple Man and Strong Guy, so that makes me personally happy. But we haven’t seen hide nor hair of Iceman. That’s a bummer. Anyway, can’t wait to see what happens!
X-Men ’97 will return to Disney+ on July 1.

I Don’t Think Toy Story 5 is Just About Technology
Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe the movie will surprise people. But it feels a little…rote to just have the toys do battle against a tablet. I’m probably wrong. But this trailer definitely seems bigger than just the toys fighting this green Lilypad tablet toy thing.
I don’t know how I feel about Toy Story 5 overall. Personally, these movies aren’t sacred to me. I’ve enjoyed each and every Toy Story movie, including 4, so I’ll probably watch and enjoy this one. I may not go to the theater to see it. I can be patient when I want. And this trailer isn’t exactly blowing the doors off or anything. I just think there’s something more…
Probably a story about Jessie and finding purpose or something. These movies are always about finding purpose.
Toy Story 5 comes to theaters on June 19…which is less than a month away!

We’re Definitely Getting More Live Action Avatar: The Last Airbender
I did not watch that leak of the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender movie. I’m no enemy of piracy, but I’m also not so indulgent as to engage with something like that. I’ll wait until it comes out in theaters. That’s fine by me. But in other Avatar news, there’s a new trailer for the second season of the live action show on Netflix!
Not a well-made trailer, but it works. I think I was very lukewarm on the first season. It was fine. Nothing spectacular. Nothing to justify its existence in live action. But I’m not going to begrudge Netflix making more. Let the people work! Let the franchise continue in whatever form is deemed appropriate. We can have mediocre things!
Season two arrives on Netflix on June 25, so in about a month.

Alert: Wildwood is Not CGI!
Better sit down for this one! Stop-motion animation powerhouse Laika is back with their new film, Wildwood, and this looks about as cool as anything can. It’s not CGI. It’s stop-motion animation. Keep that in mind when you watch this trailer.
Holy cow, people! That was gorgeous! That was intricate! That was so detailed it’s mind-blowing! These people are masters of their craft and it shows in even just a trailer, let alone the final product. The story feels a little light and cliche, but I think we can put that aside to enjoy some top tier animation.
Wildwood comes to theaters on Oct. 23.

Brace Yourselves for Coyote vs. Acme
Hollywood is weird. I don’t know if you’ve been following the behind-the-scenes nonsense regarding this new Looney Tunes movie, but it’s weird and neat all at the same time. Basically, Warner Bros. made this new animation/live action hybrid movie about Wile E. Coyote (my favorite Looney Tune) suing the Acme Corporation. But Warner Bros. is also in the middle of being gutted for parts and sold off, so the higher ups decided to shelves this movie even though it was already done. There was some outcry, deals were made, and Ketchup Entertainment (dumb name) bought the rights.
And now Coyote vs. Acme is going to come to theaters!
Looks pretty darn good to me! Looks funny, looks looney, looks to have a solid blend of live action and animation, and the trailer does a great job of playing up the anti-corporation angle. I hope people actually go out and see this movie. Nobody went and saw The Day the Earth Blew Up, the recent, fully-animated release starring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. I got to see that one in theaters! And I was alone in the theater that day! I love when that happens.
Anyway, go see Coyote vs. Acme in theaters on Aug. 28.
