Tell It Animated is Doing Top 10 Lists Now

Top Ten is no Top Six, I just wanna say. But I’ll share anything the genius animator over at Tell It Animated posts online. The dude’s work is sublime and I’m happy to share. They’re fun videos with which to start a good Monday. For this first Top 10 list, he’s done killer dolls.

Fun video, as always. Though I do find it kind of funny that, in order to fit his style, the animator introduces the dolls looking one way and then alters them to match their actual movie appearance. Like, so he just comes up with a generic-looking doll design for each of them and then alters them? That seems like a lot of extra steps. And I suppose he needs something to animate, otherwise he’d just be listing killer dolls.

A Top Ten animated list I’d like to see would be…coolest Transformers? Funniest G.I. Joes?

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/15/23

Comics come and comics go, and this week they came. Got a bunch on my list to read, and a bunch on my list to review. And now you can scroll down and read them all! We’ve got the kick off the Captain America: Cold War, we’ve got some Fantastic Four, and another issue of the X-Men!

Comic Book of the Week goes to the new Guardians of the Galaxy #1 because, at the very least, the Guardians as cowboys is fun.

I bet it smells bad on the inside

Meanwhile, I’m still grinding my way through Gotham Knights. I can definitely play that game for long binges and enjoy myself, but so much of the gameplay is frustrating. I think I’m mostly in it to find the perfect transmog Robin costume, even though Batgirl is probably the best character to play. Also, I don’t care what the haters are saying, I’m enjoying the third seasons of both The Mandalorian and Ted Lasso.

Comic Reviews: Captain America: Cold War Alpha, Fantastic Four #6, Guardians of the Galaxy #1, and X-Men #21.

Tears of the Kingdom is a Day One Buy For Me

I am going to buy Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on the day it comes out. I own a Nintendo Switch, the first Nintendo console I’ve ever owned — not counting the handhelds. I very much enjoyed Breath of the Wild, the first ever Zelda game I really played. And I’ve even taken the week after May 12 off from work so that I’ll have plenty of time to play Tears of the Kingdom.

Mostly I wanted to take a vacation in the spring, and the timing just worked out for Tears of the Kingdom.

The game looks great. Some people might complain that it’s just a Breath of the Wild expansion pack, but I do not care. Breath of the Wild was an amazing game with an amazing game world and amazing game mechanics. If they want to just expand upon that with all new adventures and stuff to do, that’s perfectly fine with me. I am not someone constantly chasing new graphical improvements. Give me more of the same, with some tweaks and upgrades and bonus stuff, and I’ll be a happy camper. It’s like the Miles Morales sequel to the PS4 Spider-Man game. Same Manhattan, same Spidey awesomeness, but just different enough to be new and cool.

So I am fully on board for having a week off from work to play through Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, coming May 12.

This Star Wars: Visions Season 2 Trailer is Everything

A second season of Star Wars: Visions is coming out on May the Fourth and it looks amazing. Seriously. I cannot praise enough just how god damned good this looks. If you don’t remember, Visions is an anthology show where a bunch of different, high profile animation studios get to do whatever they want with Star Wars. Doesn’t have to be in canon, doesn’t have to feature existing characters; they just get to go wild.

And they do!

Jeez louise, I don’t even know what to say about this trailer. It’s beautiful. The action, the animation, the humor, the heart; just look at it all! I don’t who all the animation studios are, and we obviously don’t know what their shorts will be about. But did you catch the stuff from the Wallace and Gromit folks, Aardman Animations? That is a genius get! I cannot wait to binge Visions Season 2. It’s gonna be wild. It’s gonna be a blast.

Just gotta wait until May the Fourth!

My 6 Favorite Vampires

You know a joke that I will always find funny? Calling all vampires “draculas”. It’s hilarious to me, for some reason. But despite that, I didn’t make this list my favorite draculas, because there are enough interpretations of Count Dracula in pop culture that that could be its own list somewhere down the line. Instead, this is just a list of my favorite vampires in pop culture.

It’s the role he was staked to play!

The movie Renfield comes out this weekend, and it looks to be a hoot. Nicholas Cage plays Count Dracula…so that’s another reason I probably should have made this list about my favorite draculas! Dammit! I keep messing this up. But it’s too late now. The list is already written. I’ve got all six of my favorite vampires ready to go. Just gotta finish up this opening crawl and we’ll get right to it. And I’m pretty sure only one of the vampires on this list has anything to do with Dracula, so that’s saying something.

Join me after the jump for a list of my favorite vampires in pop culture! And feel free to share your own in the comments below.
