Honestly, I Was Mostly OK With Both of These Movies

In a bit of fun comedic commentary, Honest Trailers has combined Tomb Raider and Pacific Rim: Uprising. I saw both of these movies in the theater and, must like this trailer says, they’re both pretty fine.

But it’s a hot Tuesday, soon to be a holiday, so let’s just enjoy and have a nice day!

Time to Go Watch Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom!

I’mma gonna head to the movie theater after getting off work today to go see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. I still think that’s a terrible name. Fallen Kingdom? What sort of subtitle is that? Honestly, they should have gone with Jurassic World: The Lost Park.

Thanks to Honest Trailers for giving me funny videos to post when I’m feeling lazy and figure everybody could use a fun laugh!

Honestly, State of Decay is My Favorite Zombie Game of All Time

Anybody else playing State of Decay 2? It came out this week for X-Box and PC and I’m enjoying myself so far — though I’m not sure yet if it’s as good as the first game. Honest Trailers takes a stab at the first one, and honestly, I didn’t think it was as bad as they claim it to be.

I loved the first State of Decay. It is my favorite zombie video game, and I’ve played a ton of them. It’s Grand Theft Auto-style gameplay, where you third-person control a character and run them around a big open world map, get into fights and steal cars. But it’s the zombie apocalypse and you’ve got to worry about the undead. And not in a Dead Rising way, where you can just cut your way through endless hordes. Instead, State of Decay gives you a merciless stamina bar, and you can’t just go in fighting a horde. You’ve got to run, you’ve got to be stealthy and you’ve got to play appropriately.

The coolest aspect of the State of Decay games is community building. Just like The Walking Dead and other zombie media, you’re not just a lone wolf, you’ve got a whole community and an HQ to worry about. I love that aspect of the games. I love having to maintain a base and loot for supplies, using my entire community to make it happen.

I only wish State of Decay 2 was…better. More polished. More forgiving. And if only my stupid computer wouldn’t be missing the key components that make co-op possible! I wanted to play with my friends, gorramit!

Let’s Celebrate Black Panther!

Black Panther came out on DVD last week and I’m going to have to pick up a copy, because I’d enjoy seeing that movie again. Since it came out on DVD, that means we’ve got the usual batch of funny Internet parody videos.

Like Honest Trailers.

And How It Should Have Ended.

Gotta love that Internet! And Black Panther! Go watch it again and maybe come up with your own wacky Internet comedy movie bit!

Honestly, I Didn’t Care for Baby Driver

Normally, I’m a huge Edgar Wright fan. He’s second only to Wes Anderson in terms of my favorite directors. And I couldn’t wait for Baby Driver last year — but I didn’t particularly care for it. At least we’ve got Honest Trailers for it.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very well-made movie with a lot of energy and verve. But the music choices were a little too obscure for me, and some of the characters rubbed me the wrong way, and I didn’t like some of the choices, like the big finale being a parking garage fight instead of a really badass car chase.

Also, when the evil bad guys want to go to that diner following the shootout with the cops, but Baby wants to keep his girlfriend safe, why not just tell them that he frequents that diner and they know him there, which wouldn’t be safe for their getaway? Just sayin’…
