Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/15/18
Have you heard the sad news? The beloved G. Willow Wilson will finally be leaving Ms. Marvel early next year! It’s a sad shame. She wrote a great comic! And I haven’t been all that wowed with her Wonder Woman…
But we’ve got some goodies this week, including Unstoppable Wasp, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and Uncanny X-Men! How’s that for alliteration? Comic Book of the Week goes to the latest issue of Go Go Power Rangers, because I’m feeling generous and really enjoyed the issue-ending cliffhanger.
Meanwhile, as per friend-of-the-site xmenxpert’s request, I went back and read the first issue of Ironheart. It was fine, with some parts stronger than others. Generally well-written all around, with fantastic art. But it only emphasized the things I don’t particularly like about Riri Williams. And that’s on me. I’ll give it a few more tries to see if I stick with it or not.
In related news, I also skipped the first issue of the new Miles Morales comic this week. I was meaning to read it and add it to my review pile, but this was a busier week than I’d planned. I’ll get around to reading it.
Comic Reviews: Go Go Power Rangers #15, Mr. & Mrs. X #6, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #39, Uncanny X-Men #5, Unstoppable Wasp #3, Wonder Woman #60 and X-23 #7.

Why do my favorite comics only come out on the same week? I’ll get a whole truckload of great comics I love, so I’m doing upwards of 8 reviews in one week! And then we’ll get a week like this, where I scrape together a couple comics I’d mostly given up on just to have something to review and post about. It’s not fair.
We’re going to dive back into The Silencer and Amazing Spider-Man this week. And I go on a pretty ugly rant about how much I dislike the new direction of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. But at least Action Comics wins Comic Book of the Week…by default. Though it’s not bad.
Meanwhile, I nearly forgot to post these reviews because I was gearing up to spend my entire Saturday playing Red Dead Redemption 2, so you know where my head is at this weekend.
Comic Reviews: Action Comics #1004, Amazing Spider-Man #8, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #32 and The Silencer #10.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/13/18
Holy guacamole, people! It’s another week where all of my favorite comics come out at once, delivering another 8 comics in need of review! And that’s if I willingly cut down on some, like finally dropping Superman, and taking a pause on Amazing Spider-Man.
But that just means I can take more time to enjoy the likes of Ms. Marvel, Iceman, Captain America, Power Rangers, Domino and more! Seriously, there are so many more! Comic Book of the Week goes to a hilarious Unbeatable Squirrel Girl for the laugh-out-loud funny funeral. You heard me right.
Meanwhile, the next big comic book event story that I’m skipping is Spider-Geddon. I liked Spider-Verse well enough, but I definitely don’t have any interest in an identical sequel. I realize Spider-Man is hot right now, what with that new video game, and the upcoming animated movie, but this was not the way to capitalize on that. Comic blogs were really hyped this week for what random alternate reality Spider-Men die in the first issue, but oh my god, who the hell cares?!
Comic Reviews: Captain America #4, Catwoman #4, Domino #7, Go Go Power Rangers #13, Iceman #2, Ms. Marvel #35, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #37 and X-23 #5.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/29/18
Bad news, everybody! The final issue of Extermination has been delayed until December, so I’m going to be kept in limbo for the rest of the freakin’ year as to whether or not Mimic survives. Oh, and I guess we’re technically stuck with the Young X-Men still being around too.
Light week for new comics, I’m afraid. The ongoing Superman and Spider-Man comics aren’t anything special, and the new Power Rangers direction is an immediate bust. I gave Comic Book of the Week to the first issue of Tom King’s Heroes in Crisis, though considering the crimes he commits, I need to stop gushing over the guy.
Meanwhile, did you hear that Eddie Brock is wearing a new symbiote these days? That the Venom symbiote gave birth to some new symbiote? Do we really not have enough of those?
Comic Reviews: Action Comics #1003, Amazing Spider-Man #6, Heroes in Crisis #1 and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #31.
