My Blog Doesn’t Feature Enough Cheerful Pop Music About Anthropomorphic Pony Girls

That changes today!

I hope all of you are as excited about the new movie My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks as I am! I mean, when you’ve already got a pretty solid cartoon about ponies, what better way to expand the brand then by introducing an alternate reality where all of the ponies have human versions? Even Derpy! Rainbow Rocks comes out on the 27th!

Also, in even funner pony news, my cousin named his son Dash (short for Dashell). As a proper geek, I knew this would mean he might like Dash Parr from The Incredibles. And that’s all well and good…but man, if I can somehow get that kid to love Rainbow Dash instead, my life will be in some ways complete.

The Hunger Games is Going Full on Revolution!

I have become a pretty big Hunger Games fan – the movies, I haven’t read the books yet. My favorite moment in the first film was when the hints of revolution started, so I’m very pleased to see this all come crashing down into war. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 arrives later this Fall. Why it has to be two parts, and we have to wait several months to get the proper finale, is beyond me. That’s just the way the world freakin’ works these days!

My Absolute Favorite Video on Youtube of All Time

I just thought it was high time I shared this part of my life with you fine people. There’s just so much purity in this moment. It’s my ‘plastic bag flowing in the wind’…if that reference isn’t too dated. And it makes for a nice start to this Monday morning.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/13/14

A week after my birthday and I get all my presents! How else do you explain new issues of Hawkeye, Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel all arriving in the same week? I would be hard-pressed to name three other comics I enjoy reading more these days. So thank you, Marvel, for the belated birthday present. I understand you need to stick to Wednesdays.

And lucky for us, they’re all pretty good!

Though having to choose between Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel for Comic Book of the Week is tough. I think I’m going to have to give the edge to Hawkeye for another Kate Bishop issue by Matt Fraction and Annie Wu. It was the battle of the adorable protagonists, and Kate Bishop won by a nose.

Kate Bishop knows a good blog when she sees one

Kate and Kamala are both cutie pies.

Speaking of cutie pies, I decided to pay a visit to New Warriors again before the end, because it’s an issue that serves as a would-be epilogue to Scarlet Spider. Does it live up to that previous series? No. Is it still fun? I suppose.

And anyone who is interested can read my review of Death of Wolverine #2 over at Word of the Nerd. I’ve decided to review all four issues of that weekly series, and it hasn’t been too bad so far.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #6, Batman Eternal #23, Captain Marvel #7, Hawkeye #20, Magneto #9, Ms. Marvel #8 and New Warriors #9.

A Teen Titans TV Show? That Would Never Work!

As a personal rule, I don’t believe 95% of all rumored live action superhero shows or movies. I do not think Guillermo del Toro’s Justice League Dark movie is ever going to happen. Let alone Lobo or the Metal Men. But I would have said the same thing back when the Rock was first rumored to be playing Black Adam several years ago – and now that’s a guarantee.

This fall, we’re going to get TV shows for Batman, Flash and Constantine. The Green Arrow show is probably my favorite drama on TV right now. We’re living in a world that Young Sean never thought possible.

Which brings us to today’s new rumor of a live action Teen Titans show, starring Dick Grayson as Nightwing. Apparnetly TNT is nearing a pilot consideration.

Crossover potential?

I don’t know how I feel about this possibility.

On the one hand, I don’t believe it. I believe that TNT would love to have a show as successful as Arrow, and jumping on the DC superhero bandwagon is an easy way to do just that these days. I don’t doubt that someone at TNT would love to make this show.

I just…heck, I would love to make this show. I need to stop being a cynic. If this show became a reality, I would watch the Hell out of a live action Teen Titans show. I love Arrow, I put up with the whole season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and I’m definitely going to watch Constantine, Gotham and The Flash, even though I hated the pilot for that last one (more on that in the future).

I love both Teen Titans cartoons. I mostly loved Young Justice, especially the first season. And I love the idea of a Dick Grayson TV show so much that I’ve been sitting on my own series pitch that I was going to make someday to the King of Hollywood.

I should tell you henchies about that pitch one of these days…

Something like this

There is so much drama, especially teen drama, that could be wrung out of a Teen Titans TV show. Comedy too. How many teen angst shows feature a romance between a hunky circus acrobat orphan and his fiery, orange-skinned alien power princess girlfriend?

Don’t think they’d take it that far? All of the new DC superhero shows are comics accurate, even The Flash! I would imagine this new Titans would be just as comics accurate.

There are probably a lot of people in the world who are getting sick of all the superhero movies and TV shows. I am not one of them. I may not have much faith in them getting made, but that could just be Young Sean talking. He lived in a very different world from our own.

He wouldn’t understand.

What do you henchies think of a Teen Titans live action show? Or a Nightwing series? What about that Supergirl TV show rumor that’s floating around? Sound off in the comments!
