Someone made a Dragon Ball Z fan film, and you must watch it.

Close on the heels of the recent gritty Power Rangers fan film comes Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope. This fan film was created by “Robot Underdog,” and it’s everything that fans didn’t get from Hollywood’s adaptation of the series a few years ago.

As best as I can abbreviate the series for those of you who are unfamiliar with it, Dragon Ball Z is about a group of martial arts experts who have unlocked the vast powers within themselves to battle seemingly unstoppable foes.

The above fan film takes place in an alternate timeline, where a pair of powerful androids have all but wiped out the human race. The younger character, Trunks, will eventually travel back in time to aid the series’s main characters in the present day.

Dorkly Knows Superheroes

Dorkly is usually all about video games, but they understand superheroes too, and are just saying what we’re all thinking.

For my money, Captain America: Civil War is easily going to trounce Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice!

And on a personal note, sorry for being so quiet this week, everything! I’ve been pretty busy, and I might have some good news on the horizon! I’ll let you all know when and if I can!

6 MORE Licensed Properties That Need LEGO Love

I may never get over the fact that The LEGO Movie was snubbed at the Oscars this past weekend. I’m thinking of taking it personally. Maybe organize some kind of grassroots petition? Whatever I end up doing (probably nothing), I will always remain a lifelong LEGO fan. And to honor the best movie of 2014 — since the Academy wouldn’t — I’ve decided to do a sequel List of Six to one from a few years ago.

What new franchises need to be made into LEGO?

Consider this at the top of every birthday or Christmas list I’ll ever have going forward

Walk down the LEGO aisle at the toy store these days and you’ll see Avengers, Ninja Turtles, Jurassic World, Harry Potter and more. We didn’t have branded LEGOs when I was a kid, but I would have given anything to have a real, fully licensed Ninja Turtles van and Turtle mini-figs. I have a LEGO Batmobile on my bookshelf right now, and I bought that well into my 20s. And someday the LEGO Ecto-1 will join it.

But if I could choose any LEGO franchise in the world, what would I want? After these first six options, of course.

And please note, most LEGO pictures on this list are fan creations I found online. Those that are built by fans are linked to the fan’s webpages. So let’s give it up to the fans!

Power Rangers Goes Dark and Awesome!

Someone is clearly reading my blog, because the Internet has produced a dark, gritty Power Rangers fan film that is taking the world by storm! Be warned, this is absolutely not safe for work or kids. It’s got swearing, nudity and violence. But it’s still awesome.

Glorious.

That’s Katee Sackhoff as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, and James Van Der Beek as Rocky the Red Ranger. Entitled Power/Rangers, it’s directed by Joseph Kahn, and you can read an interview he did with Hitflix about the project. This was apparently just a one-off fun thing to do. It’s not for profit, it’s not an audition to direct the new Power Rangers reboot. But it’s definitely a project that shows a gritty Power Rangers reboot would be awesome.

Hats off to everyone involved in this project. As a geeky, nostalgic fan of Power Rangers, this was everything I could have wanted and more.

All 6 Gamer Girl & Vixen Preview Pages!

We’ve been teasing these pages for awhile now, but my creative team and I are finally ready to share all six preview pages for Gamer Girl & Vixen! These pages were written and drawn last Fall when we were trying to pitch to comic book publishers. That didn’t work out, so we’re forging ahead with self-publishing plans and a Kickstarter this Spring. The pages are going to be re-drawn, re-lettered, and even a little re-written, so what you see here is no longer the finished product — but it’s still a nice taste of what Gamer Girl & Vixen is going to be!

These preview pages are co-written by myself and Kristi McDowell, with art and lettering by Gemma Moody. Here’s the first page, which takes place in the middle of the first issue, with Gamer Girl and Vixen on the run from security.

Join me after the jump to see the rest of the preview! Some of these pages I’ve posted before, and some are brand new! I hope you enjoy. Anybody interested in following along on our progress and helping out with the Kickstarter can keep their eyes peeled to my blog. We’re currently in production on issue #1, and I should have some final project preview pages in the near future. So stay tuned.

We are also only 3 people away from reaching 100 likes on our Facebook page! So anyone who’d like to pop on over there and give us a thumbs up, please do! I’m pretty sure we get some kind of special prize when we reach 100 likes. At the very least, we’re all feel really warm and fuzzy.
