Batwoman is Getting an Ongoing Series Again!
I’m a big Batwoman fan, and I’m excited to hear she’s going to get a new ongoing series again! It’s due to be announced today at New York Comic-Con! My friend and co-creator Kristi is a huge Batwoman fan, and I hope she hears the news while she’s at NYCC (I’ll be there tomorrow!)
The new series will be written by Marguerite Bennett, who is doing great work on DC Bombshells, with art by Steve Epting. It’s going to spin out of Batwoman’s role in Detective Comics.
So yeah, this is pretty awesome news. I’d love a new, well-written Batwoman comic.
“There has never been a heroine I have loved more than Batwoman,” said Bennett in a statement. “Her flaws, her ferocity, her struggle to rise above her own history and find a way to serve the greater good and those she loves—she’s always cut me straight to the bone. To be a queer woman and to see a queer woman as not just a part but a pillar of the Bat-family was life changing, inspiring and gave me the courage to pursue this career in comics. The opportunity to add to Kate Kane’s story and legacy is both an honor and a sincere dream come true.”
But we have to wait until February! Oh well.

So Far, I’m Still Team Fire-Cat
The middle evolutions fort he new Pokemon starters have been revealed as part of the drip, drip, drip of new information for Pokemon Sun and Moon. I’m not exactly sure why they wait so long to reveal this stuff! Come on! I want to know for sure if I’ll be sticking with the Litten line or not!
So far, Litten and Torracat are the only ones I like, and he would be a sure thing…except I’ve seen those leaked images and I’m worried that Litten transforms into a giant, bipedal wrestler. I don’t want that! I want a cool, fire-breathing sabretoothed tiger!
I don’t even know who I’ll pick if Litten turns into that beefcake…

I Knew I Wasn’t Going to Be Happy With Death of X
I haven’t been reading X-Men comics for awhile now, and I’m pretty sure the first issue of Death of X is going to be another nail in the coffin. I haven’t been reading any X-Men comics since the last big shake-up, when it was revealed that the Inhumans’ Terrigen Mist was killing mutants and only a handful of X-Teams were still around. I don’t know why, but I just didn’t really connect with any of the current comics. And none of the characters have particularly interested me.
But today saw the release of Death of X #1, the new mini-series that’s going to explain what happened to cause a war between mutants and Inhumans. The story is supposed to tell us what happened to Cyclops and how he died…but it’s another death that hits much harder.
Death of X is a fine enough issue. It’s well-written, the art is fantastic, and the storyline could be something interesting.
But I knew from the very first page that I wasn’t going to be happy with this issue…and my worst fears were confirmed as I kept reading. Because ‘Death of X’ does the exact thing I’ve been afraid of for three years…
MAJOR SPOILERS for Death of X after the jump!
6 Thoughts on the First Season of Luke Cage
I look forward to the Marvel Netflix shows about as much as I look forward to their new movies each year! The quality is through the roof, and I can always count on a solid weekend of binge-watching, as if we were dealing with a 13-hour movie. I’m totally OK with that! The production values are great, the stories and characters are phenomenal, and Marvel continues to be outstanding entertainment. Their new show, Luke Cage, proved to be no exception last weekend.
Season Rating: 8/10 – Very Good
Sometimes I think it would be great to get a full movie/TV crossover, and sometimes, when I’m in the middle of a great show, it just doesn’t matter. Luke Cage deserves to stand on its own as a solid, enjoyable entertainment. It’s a full season of television that delivers powerful drama, amazing characters and some great special effects. This is the sort of superhero storytelling that I could only have dreamed about as a kid.
So join me after the jump for my season review of Luke Cage on Netflix! Expect FULL SPOILERS for the show!
You’ve Never Seen The Flash Like This! Unless You Watch Honest Trailers a Lot!
The good people at Screen Junkies have gone and done their sweet critical treatment to The Flash TV show, because perhaps they’re running out of movies? Doesn’t matter, still a bunch of fun.
And at least they call out that huge problem I have with The Flash. Stupid illegal prison! You people are not heroes! You’re kidnappers!
