Let’s Start This Week with Some Sweet Marvel Trailers
I’m not going to become a doom and gloom blog and I’m not going to let my newfound nihilism hamper my love of pop culture. I bought both the LEGO X-Mansion and Bumblebee sets this weekend, and have collected all of Chip Zdarsky’s critically acclaimed Daredevil run. So retail therapy has been helpful.
What’s also helpful is that a couple of new, awesome Marvel trailers came out this weekend from a Disney event in Brazil! I remain an ardent MCU fanboy and am very much looking forward to next year’s plethora of content.
First up is Captain America: Brave New World.
Looks awesome! After that first trailer and the positive response, Marvel clearly invested in some good trailer people. I like the political intrigue. Red Hulk looks fun. They do some good work with Sam Wilson flying everywhere. I have a lot of high hopes for this one.
Captain America 4: Brave New World comes out on Feb. 14.
Next up is Thunderbolts*, which I’m even more excited about.
Thunderbolts* is like the first Avengers film. We take all of these random characters from the past few movies and shows and then bring them together and let them banter and bounce off one another. They’re not as famous as the Avengers characters, but it’s going to work for me if they have fun with it. These are the grungy, grimy Avengers and these are some great characters to use.
Thunderbolts* comes to theaters on May 2.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/9/24
Hoo boy. What a god damned week. Thankfully, there were a ton of new and exciting comics this week, to help me deal with the near crippling depression and misanthropy. And if you’re reading this, I’m also probably on my way to the nearest LEGO store to buy the X-Mansion set. So I’m coping.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #1 because it’s another banger. All of these Absolute books have knocked it out of the park!
Meanwhile, uh, I’m mostly holding on by a thread here. I’m playing through Baldur’s Gate 3 again these days. It’s still a fun game, and a lot of patches have come out in the past year to add more to the game that it didn’t have when I played on release. The new season of Arcane has started. The Penguin finale should be awesome. And I’m also collecting all of Chip Zdarsky’s Daredevil run into a big tpb pile to read one of these days. So I’m coping well in my usual ways.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #1, Batgirl #1, Batman #154, The Ultimates #6, X-Factor #4 and X-Men #7.

So I haven’t really posted much for the past two weeks and that’s all for one very big reason: the election. I’m physically and personally fine. I was just really anxious before the election, and now I’m pretty depressed after the election. So, y’know, just didn’t feel like posting.
But I’m coming out of that fog and am not going to give up all the fun stuff I do in my life just because my country and likely the world are doomed. I’ve got some comic reviews coming tomorrow, and hopefully my review of The Penguin next week. I even hope to review Agatha All Along! And heck, the second season of Arcane kicks off tomorrow, and I plan on going out and buying myself the LEGO X-Mansion. So it should be a pretty fun weekend at least.
As for today, here’s the latest Tell It Animated! This one is about horror clowns.
I don’t have any problem with clowns. I’m not afraid of them and think they have an important role in a circus. But perhaps they are very fun to draw.
Anyway, enjoy the video! I’m gonna go buy LEGOs and watch Arcane.

How About Another Look at Star Wars: Skeleton Crew?
What a couple of weeks. Election anxiety and life anxiety are eating me alive, or at least they’re eating at the parts of me that can focus on blogging. So I haven’t posted much. But it’s Monday, I’ve got to get to work, I’m cold, and I’m finally posting this Star Wars: Skeleton Crew trailer from late last week. This show definitely looks fun, as far as I’m concerned.
This looks fun. A 1980’s style kids adventure flick set in the Star Wars universe? That sounds neat! Star Wars is definitely transitioning into something similar to the superhero genre, where they explore other genres within the existing framework. Sounds fine to me! We’re always going to get new Star Wars stuff, so they might as well be experimental and interesting, and, of course, good.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is coming to Disney+ starting on Dec. 3.

Season 2 of Squid Game Might be Good!
Like everybody else, I loved the first season of Squid Game! I cried! I got annoyed at the ending! I didn’t think there needed to be more! But a second season is coming whether we like it or not, and with this first trailer, it actually looks really good.
I’m in. Seong Gi-hun has ditched the bright red hair and looks like a man on a mission. And I really like how he’s portrayed in this trailer, as someone attempting to step up and just lead the others from the very beginning. Could be pretty awesome. And the show is coming sooner than anticipated, with more Squid Game before the end of the year!
Jeez, the first season came out three years ago!
Squid Game returns to Netflix on Dec. 26.
