6 Thoughts on Ms. Marvel (Review)
Kamala Khan has arrived on our television screens and the Ms. Marvel show was everything I could have wanted and more! I’ve been a champion of the character since she was first announced in comics, and I couldn’t be happier at how well this character was actually received and how popular she’s become. And I’m so glad her TV show was amazing.
TV Show Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic
This might be my new favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe TV show. Pretty much every aspect of this show was perfect — and a perfect translation from the comics. The showrunners captured that wonderful Kamala Khan dynamic directly from the page, and infused the series with joy, energy and wonderful character development. They got the family right. They got the religion right. They may have crammed a bit too much into just six episodes, but that’s not a dealbreaker.

Another week, another new trailer for the Harley Quinn cartoon and it’s upcoming season 3! I love this show and it’s a lazy Tuesday, so why not just share another one of these trailers? I can’t wait for this season!
But since this red band trailer is full of cussing, I can’t link it directly from YouTube. So how about the Twitter version?
Looks great! I can’t wait for all the humor, the character growth and the cussing. You can still watch the trailer on YouTube if you’d like. It’s much simpler, but has all sorts of rules.
Anyway, Harley Quinn season 3 comes to HBO Max on July 28! So a week and two days away!

There’s Gonna Be More Beavis and Butt-Head
We knew this was coming, and now we’ve got a trailer! The new movie, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, came out a couple of weeks ago and it was a hoot! Maybe not as good as the good old days, but nonetheless quite a funny and enjoyable film. And that’s going to lead into a whole new revival series this fall.
Bring it on! We have a million things to watch these days, so why not more Beavis and Butt-Head straight from Mike Judge? Close Enough just got cancelled. And the new season of Tuca & Bertie arrived with so little fanfare that I might forget to watch it. There’s so much stuff! So I’ll gladly take more Beavis and Butt-Head!
The new show starts on Aug. 4 on Paramount+.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/16/22
After last week’s massive pile of comics, I felt pretty lazy this week. We’ve only got a couple, like Immortal X-Men and Power Rangers. But that’s good enough, right?
Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1 for another excellent Hellfire Gala. I really love this as an annual event, even if it throws the normal comic book passage of time right out the window.
Meanwhile, I loved the finale to Ms. Marvel! That show lived up to all my hopes, hypes and expectations. Truly wonderful! Beyond that, I’ve moved onto For All Mankind on AppleTV+ and am hoping for the best. And my trip through Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has reached Mass Effect 2 — which is a huge improvement over the first game! Loving this adventure.
Comic Reviews: Immortal X-Men #4, Power Rangers #21 and X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1.

There’s going to be a big, expensive Lord of the Rings TV show. It’s going to be set millennia before the movies, focusing on some supplemental material from J.R.R. Tolkien. It’s going to be called The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime, and it’s going to look like this.
And I don’t think it looks like anything. This trailer looks gorgeous. Clearly the money was spent on big CGI landscapes. Because all the character scenes look far less expensive. And none of them are talking about anything interesting. It all looks really cool. But this trailer doesn’t reveal anything about plot or story or characters that gets me excited.
It looks like Amazon put all of their money into making this big show, but have probably failed to come up with any sort of story worth telling.
I hope I’m wrong, obviously. I’m going to watch this show. There’s no reason the showrunners and writers can’t have come up with something really great, that just so happens to have billion-dollar CGI landscapes.
So I’m going to keep my hopes up for when The Rings of Power premieres on Sept. 2!
