My 6 Favorite Episodes of The Simpsons

I can still remember watching the first episode of The Simpsons in 1989, the Mills family huddled around our living room for another night of quality prime time television. I don’t remember what I thought about the episode or the show. I don’t remember what prompted us to even watch it. But we were hooked from that very first episode, and I have been a lifelong fan of The Simpsons ever since.

Even if I haven’t seen a new episode in years…

Have you seen what they did with Lenny?

I will let historians and poets write a bigger, better recap of The Simpsons‘ cultural impact. I’m just a guy who loved a cartoon, alongside the rest of the entire world. What I can do – aside from playing Simpsons Tapped Out on my phone – is buy the DVDs and watch oodles upon oodles of old episodes. And one thing I’ve learned is that all of the episodes I devoured in syndication had amazing extra scenes and jokes cut out of them that are fully restored on the DVDs! It’s like finding new gems in the old classic episodes!

I hope The Simpsons never goes away. And in celebration, let us reminisce on our favorite episodes! Please share your own in the comments!

The 6 Best Little Sisters in Pop Culture

My little sister’s birthday was last week, and I’m still having a hard time believing that she’s in her mid-20s. It helps that we live several states apart and only see each other on the major holidays. But still, come on, world! Cut me some slack! There’s no way she’s that old now. Regardless of age, I still love her, and the best way I know how to show love these days is with a List of Six dedicated to her.

This also qualifies as her birthday present.

“Happy Birthday to you…”

I did a similar list a few years ago for my brother around his birthday. But in researching this list, I discovered that brothers are a much bigger deal in pop culture than sisters. His list was all about awesome brother teams, like Mario and Luigi, but that sort of thing apparently doesn’t exist very often in pop culture when it comes to sister siblings. What’s up with that? Besides the obvious gender inequality inherent in all of fiction.

Still, I ain’t buying her a real present. So here’s a list of the 6 coolest little sisters in pop culture!

Getting Caught Up With Game of Thrones!

We’re less than a week away from the new season of Game of Thrones! Get caught up with this handy, dandy Honest Trailer!

I love comedy. This Honest Trailer was spot on! That Faceless Assassin really is awesome! I hope we see him again real soon. All of the trailers so far seem to indicate that Season 4 might be the best one yet! I am definitely looking forward to Sunday. Thanks to the Screen Junkies for delivering their usual awesomeness.

More Simpsons LEGOs – I Never Thought I’d See the Day

The only appropriate word is ‘SQUEE!’.

Simpsons Lego Figs

Just look at those beauties. You can check out a gallery of each individual one at Gizmodo. They each get a little accessory! It’s adorable! I’m having to wipe up some drool over here! They’re gorgeous! They’re works of art! They are probably more expensive than I could ever afford. They’re apparently $4 a piece and will be ready in time for the all-LEGO episode of the Simpsons in May.

Some days I am truly amazed that we get to live in this world.

6 Things I Want to See on Gotham

As hesitant as I may be to embrace the new Gotham TV show on FOX, I can still admit that it could be an amazing show. Gotham will be loosely based on Gotham Central, one of my favorite comic book series of all time, and one I have been praising as a potential TV adaptation from the very beginning. Any true Batman fan will tell you that Batman is only as cool as he is because of the world in which he inhabits, and Gotham City is one of the greatest settings in all of fiction.

The potential for Gotham to be a great show is through the roof!

In theory.

At least they got the logo sort-of right

The producers and writers could still mess it up big time. Weren’t we all giggling with glee at the potential behind Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? That show is only mostly OK more than halfway through it first season, when we all expected it to be Firefly reborn (or at least I did). Gotham could go either way. Brilliant or bupkis. Glorious or garbage. Well if the good people at FOX want Gotham to be a success, they should take my phone calls and listen to the 6 things I want to see in the show!
