My Long, Overdue Thoughts on Gotham

I don’t know why I haven’t been covering all of the news and casting coming out of the new TV show Gotham. There have been several times where I’ve sat down prepared to say something about Donal Logue being cast as Harvey Bullock, or meeting the new young Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle, but nothing comes to mind to write. It’s especially strange considering I think the comic Gotham Central is perfect for a TV adaptation. This new show should be a dream come true.

But it’s not.

Because it’s different. And I think I’m afraid they’re going to mess it up.

The Batman show without Batman

Hopefully my regular readers will know that I am not picky when it comes to comic book adaptations. I firmly believe that some changes must be made between the page and the screen, and I really don’t mind when those changes are aesthetic, like using Ultimate Nick Fury in the Marvel movies instead of regular Nick Fury, or not having the Hulk get his powers from a Gamma bomb. The only thing I really have a problem with is when TV and network executives (whom I hate on principal) get their grimy mitts on a beloved property and warp it into something hideous and nonsensical, all in a quest for ratings or viral web clicks or whatever repugnant buzz words they’re spouting next.

I can’t stand it when these adaptations have no soul.

And for some reason, I’m kind of afraid that’s what Gotham is going to be. In everything I’ve seen or read about this series, which is currently in production and will definitely reach our TV screens, I just get this overwhelmingly dreadful feeling that all of this is a sham.

Join me after the jump to see why.

New Trailers for Things We Love!

This is going to be a week of movie trailers, and the world kicks things off with new, exciting trailers for Amazing Spider-Man 2Game of Thrones and Godzilla! Seriously, these are three pretty wicked trailers. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

First up, the last trailer for Amazing Spider-Man 2, with a bigger focus on the Green Goblin and Rhino.

With each new trailer, this movie just looks better and better.

Now a quick trailer for season 4 of Game of Thrones with some new footage, a new song and a whole bunch of excitement!

Then we have the international trailer for Godzilla, with again, some new footage and a whole bunch of excitement. I’m not so sure about the song in this one though. Can we get someone in maintenance to take a look at it?

So which are you guys and gals more excited for? New Spider-Man, new Game of Thrones or new Godzilla? I’m torn.

I Don’t Own Any Simpsons LEGOs Because Money

Did you know that The Simpsons house LEGO set is $200?! What does LEGO think we are, made of money? Or that we’re all money tree farmers? Darn it, I knew I should have gone into money tree farming! I guess I’ll just have to satisfy my desires with all the fun that other people are having with their LEGO Simpsons houses. Like Monsieur Caron, for example.

Casting Col. Talbot on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Could Mean Bigger, Greener Things!

Revealed just yesterday, Adrian Pasdar has been cast as Colonel Glenn Talbot on Agents of SHIELD! That’s pretty exciting news, seeing as how Talbot is a major player in Hulk comics. And it’s always a good sign when SHIELD adds some real comic characters.

Save the Hulk, save the world

You can check out an interview with Pasdar here.

The best news is that Talbot will probably open the door to other Hulk characters. We probably won’t see General Ross or the Hulk himself, but what about Doc Samson? Or, dare I say it…the Leader!? A few months ago, I wrote a List of Six about what I’d like to see on Agents of SHIELD, and the Leader was the #1 choice. I suggested he could be the season’s Big Bad, especially if they use actor Timothy Blake, who played Samuel Sterns in The Incredible Hulk movie.

I made that suggestion before SHIELD introduced a Big Bad called ‘The Clairvoyant’. Mind powers…the Leader…it all adds up!

Full Flash Costume Leaves My Heart All A’Flutter

UPDATE: I’ve added a second photo taken on-set on the pilot after the jump. It’s a bright, clear, full-bodied look at the new Flash costume! Click the button to see it after the jump!

Check out an official, full-body picture of the new Flash costume from the upcoming TV show!

A running start – get it?

I love the look! I love the color! This is an awesome costume!

They’re filming the pilot right now, and is there any doubt that this will be picked up for a full series? It’s made by the same people behind Arrow, and clearly Arrow is a smash hit. We live in a glorious world of superhero entertainment these days!

Click the jump to see a better picture of the costume.
