I Do Not Care About the Updated Animation in Shrek 5

Because the world is hell and we are easily distracted by circuses, the uproar online is that everybody hates the new animation style in Shrek 5. They hate the very subtle, incredibly subtle, facial changes made to the Shrek character model for the new movie. I just want to go on record as saying that I could not care less.

It looks fine. We live in post-Spider-Verse world. We live in a post-The Last Wish world. Animation is going to change. It’s been 16 years since the last Shrek movie. Things change. The world changes. The world spins madly on. There are worse things in the world than Shrek’s character model getting updated for a new animation style. Jeez louise!

The real thing people should be complaining about with this trailer is the lack of Puss in Boots. The Last Wish was an awesome film! And it ended with a tease of a crossover with Shrek! So why isn’t Shrek 5 that crossover? Why doesn’t it lean into the awesomeness of The Last Wish? Wasted gorram opportunity, I tell you what.

Shrek 5 exists and it’s coming to theaters next summer and it looks fine.
