Epic, Full-Length Flash Trailer Reveals Everything!
Holy Guacamole, you guys! No sooner did The CW release that brief Flash teaser yesterday than they’ve come out with a full, 5-minute long trailer that reveals freaking everything for the new The Flash show! We’ve got Barry Allen, his supporting cast, his origin, the origin of his costume, the Weather Wizard, the death of his mom, the origin of metahumans, Vibe, it’s…it’s glorious!
Behold!
I love it. The show looks a little weird, a little kitschy, but I kind of like that too! I like the lead actor, I like the costume, I looooove the special effects! And I especially love the Green Arrow cameo. The show might have some growing pains, I think at the beginning. But it otherwise looks gorgeous.
First Teaser for Flash TV Show is Aptly Over Quickly
Did you guys and gals see Arrow‘s season finale? It was a badass adventure, to be sure. It also gave us our first look at the new Flash show in motion!
I don’t know about you, but I got a real sense of a growing Justice League from watching that clip. There’s just something really stirring about seeing live action superheroes hang out together. I grow more excited for the Flash show with every new bit I see.
Looks Like That Constantine Show is Happening Too!
I am generally pessimistic when it comes to movie and TV show adaptations of comics. Mostly because anybody can name-drop a famous property online just to get the publicity and the never mention it again. The Internet may claim that Power Rangers is going to get a movie reboot, but I won’t believe it until I see it. Likewise with all of these sequels to 20-year-old movies being announced. Or the apparently nine movies DC Comics has in some form of production. Heck, I still don’t think that World of Warcraft movie is going to come out, and they’ve almost finished filming.
But I guess it seems that Constantine TV show is going to be real. NBC put out a trailer this weekend.
I never read Hellblazer and I actually kind of liked the Keanu Reeves movie. So while I don’t have any particular interest in this show, I’ll probably watch it because of its roots. That’s the kind of geek I am. The trailer looks pretty cool, with its magic and specters and the like, but something about actor Matt Ryan as John Constantine doesn’t sit right with me. He seems too young to be this world-weary. And that outfit looks more like cosplay than something an actual person would wear. But I think he’s got the attitude down right.
So maybe it’ll be a good show!
First Gotham Trailer Full of Promises
The first trailer for the TV show Gotham debuted last night, and it’s full of promises for all sorts of Batman-related stuff – just none of the stuff we want to see.
I wrote about this show a few weeks ago, and I think this trailer just embiggens everything I was worried about then. Look at them tease all of the individual villains, the ones promised in that leaked script that the people at io9 didn’t like. But other than that, I suppose it looks OK. The show has been picked up for at least 13 episodes, and you better believe I’m going to watch them. But I remain slightly hesitant.
Of course, I’m still watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., so I’ll give anything a chance.
Why Don’t They Just Use Darth Vader?
With yesterday being the Fourth of May, the fine folks at Star Wars released the first trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: Rebels cartoon. I was probably unnecessarily mean towards Rebels in a recent article, so why don’t we check out the trailer and decide for ourselves?
Eh, I’m not convinced. I’ve been catching up on Star Wars: Clone Wars recently, the show that was cancelled to make way for this one. Clone Wars is good, and stars popular characters. Whereas I keep feeling like Rebels is a made-by-committee Star Wars show. All of the characters are carefully crafted into perfect cliches. And they don’t even use Darth Vader as the villain! The show takes place in the time period where Darth Vader is active, arguably the greatest super-villain in the history of fiction, but they don’t want to use him? What sort of sense does that make?!
