Hench-Sized Comic Reviews – 3/15/25

I’m finally back with more robust comic reviews! Just been busy, is all. In fact, if you’re reading this, I’m once again out of town! Such is life, I suppose. At least we’ve got comics like Green Lantern Corps and Void Rivals to enjoy.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #5 because I’m a sucker for these comics! Jason Aaron will also be guesting in Scott Snyder’s Comics Writing Class this week, so I’m very excited about that!

It’s never enough

Meanwhile, I beat Dragon Age: Veilguard and very much enjoyed the game! Solid 8/10 for me. Great character creator, solid and enjoyable gameplay, and very good characters/story/ending. All around solid RPG. I’ll finally be picking up Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 this week and can’t wait to dive into that!

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #5, Green Lantern Corps #2 and Void Rivals #17.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/8/25

There are so many good comics I wish I had kept reading, but had dropped for whatever unimportant reason. I really, really want to get caught back up with Scarlet Witch! And Birds of Prey! But one comic I’m not dropping anytime soon is…

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #4, which is probably my favorite of the Absolute comics. They’ve all been phenomenal so far, but Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval are working some real magic with this new Superman!

And he isn’t American

Meanwhile, I’m still playing through Dragon Age: Veilguard and Stardew Valley, so I have successfully been able to stop myself from splurging on Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, though I will very much be playing that game soon! Currently making my way through the final season of Doom Patrol at long last, am really enjoying the new season of Severance, and am reading Marjorie Finnegan: Temporal Criminal by Garth Ennis. Fun book!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/25/25

This was one of those weeks where every single comic I’m reading comes out at the same time. And there are some I’m way behind on, like Scarlet Witch and Fantastic Four, that I really need to dig into and get caught up. But until then, we’ve got some excellent books, including Superman and Wonder Woman!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Wonder Woman #4 for a perfectly crafted chapter in this already exciting series.

That’s a good robo arm

Meanwhile, I’m starting to wind down on Stardew Valley and pick back up Dragon Age: The Veilguard, so that’s exciting. I’m enjoying the new season of Severance, but didn’t really care for the second season of The Silo. I’m also reading Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, finally, and it’s as good as everyone says.

Comic Reviews: Absolute Wonder Woman #4, Power Rangers Prime #3 Superman #22, Ultimate Spider-Man #13, Uncanny X-Men #9 and Wonder Woman #17.

My 6 Most Anticipated Pop Cultures for 2025

We’re deep into January now, which means this article is pretty late — but also not so late that some of these things have come to pass yet. They’re still in our future, so it’s still safe to talk about them like that.

As I become a bitter old man, all I really have let to cling to are pop cultures like video games, TV shows and movies. And 2025 promises to be a very good year for content, in a world that relies on more and more content. So let’s talk about them for the year ahead!

And feel free to share your own anticipated pop cultures in the comments below!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/4/25

Happy New Year, everyone! Here’s hoping 2025 isn’t as crappy as 2024, but I don’t have high hopes. We’re starting off a bit light this week with just a single comic read and reviewed. I read a few more, but this was the only one I felt like reviewing because it’s a good one!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #3 for an unexpected, but no less delightful, take on a classic Superman trope.

Kryptonian laptop computer and purple snacks

Meanwhile, after many years, I finally, somewhat randomly started playing Stardew Valley. I’ve always considered the game, and when my brother mentioned in passing over Christmas that he was playing it again, I finally decided to give it a try. And, of course, it’s everything people say it is. The perfect chill accumulation game for a lazy weekend, just how I like it.
