There Are Apparently Lots of Things Wrong With The Phantom Menace
The Star Wars celebrations are never ending around here! The Internet is just too full of fun Star Wars stuff. Star Wars! Here we have the good folks at Cinema Sins pinging the glorious Phantom Menace in not one, but two, videos!
Part 1
Part 2
Good times! Is it Thursday yet?

The Trailers…Just Keep Coming…
And I…I just keep sharing them. I love movie trailers. Here’s the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond.
Looks fine to me! I don’t think I can honestly react to movie trailers anymore. They’re all blending together in an action-packed menagerie of insanity and special effects! I’m only human, I can’t handle this!

Independence Day 2 Also Has a Trailer
At this rate, we’re all going to have to wait an additional 30 minutes before watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens, because that’s how long it’s going to take to get through the trailers! Every single upcoming movie has one ready for Thursday night. We should develop some kind of bingo game to see who gets the likes of Civil War or Dawn of Justice or Warcraft or Apocalypse or a million others.
For example, here’s the first trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence, which…jeez louise, I don’t even know anymore.
That trailer just…it’s kind of overwhelming. But not in a good way…but also not in a bad way. More of in a way that makes me question where we are as a society. Like, this movie didn’t have to be made, but it is…and it’s clearly trying to be bigger and better than the last one. But the first Independence Day is a classic for a reason. Can this movie even come close? Movies aren’t made the same anymore…

X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer Does Its Thing
Apparently, this is the week for movie trailers — possibly making sure all the big trailers get out and go ahead of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That thing is apparently attracting movie trailers like a moth to flame.
Anyway, here is the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, and, well…I dunno. I wasn’t impressed.
I enjoyed Days of Future Past just fine, but it was hardly a break out movie for me. I think the X-Men franchise has just been around for so long that they kind of just put out perfectly acceptable and enjoyable films now. There’s nothing really new they’re going to show us. And there isn’t anything particularly interesting about their Apocalypse, at least not in this trailer. He doesn’t sound very menacing, and how many times have we seen that same trope of a new, ancient villain revealing themselves to have been Jesus, Buddha and the rest?
The Four Horsemen mostly came off as silly, like the movie had to make a point to acknowledge them. They’re all mutants we’ve seen before. Mystique seems to be stuck in Jennifer Lawrence mode, because of course.
Plus, this might just be me, but I don’t particularly buy Sophie Turner as an actor. That’s probably on me.
So there we have it, folks. This week, I liked the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer more than I liked the new X-Men trailer. Glob help me.

Glob Help Me, I Kind of Dig This New Ninja Turtles Movie Trailer!
I liked the first Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. It was silly fun, rather dumb, and actually had a really great take on the Turtles themselves. The idea that they might actually wear distinct clothing shouldn’t be this revolutionary. Well the sequel is on its way, and the first trailer was released today!
Say hello to the new Bebop and Rocksteady, y’all!
I will admit to giggling out loud multiple times during this trailer, mostly our of sheer dumbness. But man, c’mon, I’m not made of stone! And it’s not like this movie assumes it’s going to be in the Oscar race. It’s just gonna be a big, dumb, silly Ninja Turtles movie! Isn’t that what we all need in our lives sometimes?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of the Shadows will premiere on June 3.
